It is devoted to the future, complex and interdisciplinary environmental science with the support of the existing Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology. Because of the strong economic growth in the Pacific Rim, e.g. China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan, most of people believe that the 21st century will become Asian era. At the same time fast growing environmental problems will occur and affect all Pacific regions simultaneously. To tackle the problems adequately a global consideration is absolutely necessary. A close international cooperation, especially, within the Pacific Rim is significant, and this new Graduate School should become one of the forums for advancing environmental science in this Asian era. ■ ○ ○ ■ ■ ○ ○ ○ ○ http://ambiente.okayama-u.ac.jp/en/index.html
