What you need to know about Rome 10 AD Rome The Period Of Peace By: Amanda King Hello everyone! I will be your tour guide for today. I will be showing you and telling you some background information about the Pax Romana. Now lets get started! As of right now Augustus is the ruler of this time period. As you can see on your right and left there is a servian wall and if you look closely there is a little neighborhood in there. As time is going on this neighborhood is really starting to grow and increase in population. All of these people here are treated with respect and care, which is very fair. The Pax Romana is a time period of peace and happiness. Pax Romana actually means Roman peace. Now looking past the servian wall, you see the neighborhoods growing more into cities and towns. Right now there is about 60 to 80 billion people here and about 3,000,000 square miles of land. If you look around you see all different kinds of people trading different goods with each other nicely; nobody is fighting or arguing. Since everyone is very nice to each other this makes trading so much easier and so the trading population is increasing. One of Augustus biggest accomplishments was building roads, which also made it a lot easier for people in all different parts to trade goods. About 90% of the population are farmers, merchants and artisans so trading a lot is how they make a living. Even though there was no social class chart farmers, merchants and artisans were usually always at the bottom because they were not as wealthy as the rulers and emperors. Of course Augustus was a very wealthy man who ruled and had a lot of accomplishments during the time period of Pax Romana. Eventually, it had to come to an end because you cant last with peace for that long. This lasted from about 27 BC to about 180 AD.
