Welcome back Cadets from last year and special
welcome to the new Cadets this year. Sequoyah
JROTC Eagle Battalion is planning on having a
special year for 2013-2014. How well we do depends on the effort put forth by everyone in
Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie Companies and the
coordination of the Cadet Staff.
As the Cadet Battalion Commander, I would
like to put out THREE challenges to everyone in
the Eagle Battalion. First, let’s set the highest
standards on wearing the new blue dress uniforms. They have a snappy look, but only if they
are kept clean, worn completely, and with the
upmost respect.
SECOND, we need everyone’s participation

and energy in our fundraisers. The fundraisers provide for most of the extra activities where
we represent Sequoyah High School. We did
great in the two carwashes at Advance Auto
Parts in Soddy-Daisy in August, and we have a
World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser going on
this semester. Everyone can help!
Third, I challenge each Cadet to participate in
at least one extra-curricular Team this year. We
have Raiders season in First Semester. Drill
Team, Color Guard, JROTC Leadership and
Academic Board Teams, and Rifle Team competition seasons all start in First Semester and continue past the Christmas break into Second
Semester. There is something for everyone to
(cont)
join and the learning, experience, and competition will only make you a better Cadet, student, and citizen.
My supporting staff and I want Cadets to be
involved. Let us know your ideas on how Sequoyah JROTC Eagle Battalion can support
our school and community!

From the Command Sergeant Major
To new Cadets this year, welcome to the Eagle Battalion.
We are glad you came to Sequoyah and glad that you
joined JROTC. Moving to a
new school with new friends
can be a big deal. I am in a new
position, too. I was a Company
First Sergeant last year. Now as
the Cadet Battalion Command
Sergeant Major, I will give my
best effort to support every
cadet’s leadership and learning
experience.

this is a great way to display
that.
All Cadets should make it a
point to keep Sequoyah High

The last thing I will say is

Bits from the Special Teams:
Raider– Amy Wilson— Raiders build self confidence, and self– esteem. Shy people that join the
Raider Team won’t end the season and still be shy! It strengthens your body. Raiders also build leadership skills. I believe everyone should try the Raider Team. We will get muddy and have fun. Its too
good of an opportunity to pass up!
Rifle Team– Patrick Eberhart Rifle Team is a very fun extra-curricular activity for anyone in JROTC. Not only is it fun but it provides
a chance to gain a skill that most may not have the chance to gain in everyday life.
JLAB– Cody Collins JLAB is one of the most fun yet educational experiences in JROTC not only is it helpful in an educational sense but it also prepares you for future life experiences.

Alpha Company Commander: Chris Cox
Welcome! I am Cadet Captain
Chris Cox. I am the company
commander for Alpha Company. Here is a welcome and
some words of advice. First of
all, welcome to Sequoyah High
School. I wish you the best as
you spend your four years here.
-Cadet Captain Cox
On another matter welcome to
our JROTC program. We have
some of the best cadets in Tennessee here. I hope you find
your place amongst all of us.
One more thing on uniform
days– be watchful of mistakes
on you and other cadets. Also,
treat other cadets with respect.
Have a good year and do your
best!
Alpha Company 1Sgt: Daniel Reno
Hello, I am Cadet 1Sgt Reno.
I’d like to welcome you to Sequoyah. Being in JROTC now
makes you a cadet. As a cadet
you need to set an example in
Alpha Company for the rest of
the school.
To set an example you need
leadership. This class will help
you learn leadership skills. Bullying will not be tolerated.
Don’t create a fight if someone
being bullied. Handle it with a
sense of poise and rationality.
Also, we need to represent the
program. The car wash is a
good example of representing
our program and thanks to the
people that came and supported
us.
-First Sergeant Reno
Bravo Company Commander: Ashley Braswell
Hello, Welcome LET 1’s, I am
Bravo’s Company Commander
Cadet Captain Braswell . I want
to thank all the cadets who
joined JROTC. Our company
motto is: “ Hard as ice, slick as
rain, Bravo Company will bring
the pain, we’re mighty fine,
we’re mighty tuff and no other
company will compete against
us! HOOAH!” What it means
is that the things you want to
hard but if you pay attention
and listen you will learn fast.
We may yell at times but it’s
only to make you a better
person. When you wear the
uniform it really brings you
out and shows us who you
really are. JROTC is not to
make you go into the Army or
any other military branch it is
to “ Motivate Young People
To Be Better Citizens.” We
want to be the best company we
can be by teaching one another to
be respectful and make sure that
we all learn how to have discipline.
We have many expectations for
our cadets in JROTC. We will
teach ya’ll facing movements, the
correct hand placements on the
uniform, how to become physically
fit, military map reading, marching, etc. JROTC is a great program! - Cadet Captain Braswell

Now, I’ll be telling you about
the special teams we have.
Raiders is like an adventure

worth it. Rifle Team, you have
to start out with taking a safety
