ALL-DAY SUMMER CAMP FOR GRADES K-6 AT OUR
SOUTH
RIDING/CHANTILLY SCHOOL (43250 Stonewall Pond St., South
Riding, VA 20152, a spacious 5,000 sq. ft. facility with a 10,000 sq. ft.
fenced grassy play area) - June 13 to August 26 ($250/week). An all-day (8:30 am
to 6:00 pm) camp with a focus on learning and fun. Activities include field trips, and exercises
of the mind and body. Students will spend a part of every day in a classroom setting learning
curriculum that is designed to strengthen math, English, and writing skills. We are in the third

ALL-DAY SUMMER CAMP FOR GRADES K-6 AT OUR HERNDON
SCHOOL (13505 Dulles Technology Drive, Unit 1, Herndon, VA

Design for Disaster: An Introduction to Structural
Engineering (Rising 5th to 8th Graders): An Engineering approach to
designing structures to withstand natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes,
etc. Instruction will incorporate hands-on activities, along with lectures on structural design.
This course is highly recommended for rising 6th and 7th Graders and can be used as a strong
supporting evidence example in preparing the Student Information Sheet (SIS) during TJ/AoS
admission process. This course is recommended for rising 8th Graders who have not participated
in enough STEM based activities so far. This course has been a great success and taught by a
highly experienced teacher Dr. Cottle, who teaches the same course in summer every year at TJ.

One week of intense writing taught by a highly qualified and
experienced English teacher. This class will incorporate logical reasoning exercises, fiction and
non-fiction writing to strengthen writing skills. Students will also learn strategies of research.

DEBATE BOOTCAMP WEEK FOR GRADES 3-7 AT OUR HERNDON

One week of intense debate taught by a highly experienced debate coach. High
School students, who reached the nationals level competitions, will be present to assist the
coach. This course incorporates coaching on how to conduct research in order to support a
stance, and how to verbally support/argue an idea in an organized and respectful manner.
($350/week)

Courses:- All math classes will be taught by highly qualified (some of
them Ph.Ds) and experienced teachers.
Algebra – I: A six week accelerated course that covers an overview of the main AlgebraI concepts. This course is intended for students who will be taking the Algebra-I course
during the 2016-2017 academic year. It will be taught by a highly qualified and
experienced teacher. Classes meet twice a week. Depending on how students respond, the
classes may be extended by one more week in August with no extra-charge.
HERNDON: Monday 6:30pm – 8:30pm, and Saturday 10:00am – noon
Classes start on June 20 and end on August 1. ($450)
ASHBURN: Tuesday 6:30pm – 8:30pm, and Saturday 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Classes

Geometry for Standardized Tests (intended for rising 7th and 6th Graders): A six
week course, which covers Geometry knowledge required for excelling in IOWA test,
HSSAT and PSAT. It will be taught by a highly experienced teacher with a Ph.D. degree.
Classes meet twice a week.
HERNDON: Tuesday 6:30pm – 8:00pm, and Sunday 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Classes start on June 28 and end on August 7. ($395)
Geometry: A six week accelerated course that covers an overview of the main Geometry
concepts. This course is intended for students who will be taking an online Geometry
course for credit in summer or the Geometry course at school during the 2016-2017
academic year. It will be taught by an experienced teacher with a Ph.D. degree. Classes
meet twice a week.

TJ Freshman Statistics: A six week accelerated course that covers an overview of the
main Statistics concepts. This course is recommended for students who will be taking the
TJ Freshman Statistics course in the first semester of 2016-2017 academic year. It will be
taught by a popular TJ math teacher. Classes meet twice a week.

Classes start on June 22 and end on July 31. ($495)
Calculus AB and BC: A six week accelerated course that covers an overview of the
main Calculus AB and BC concepts. This course is recommended for students who will
be taking the Calculus AB/BC course during the 2016-2017 academic year. Extra
material will be covered for Calculus BC students after completing the Calculus AB
material. An additional $100 may be charged for attending four extra Calculus BC
classes in August. It will be taught by an experienced teacher with a Master’s degree in
Math. Classes meet twice a week.

High-School Biology: A six weeks course that covers the basic concepts of a high-school
(including TJ) Biology course. This course is highly recommended for 9th and 10th Grade
students who will be taking General Biology course during 2016-2017 academic-year. It
will be taught by a highly experienced FCPS high-school teacher. Classes meet twice a
week.
HERNDON: Saturday 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Sunday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Classes
start on June 25 and end on July 31. ($495)
General High-School Chemistry: A six weeks course that covers the basic concepts of a
high-school Chemistry course. This course is highly recommended for 9th and 10th Grade
students who will be taking General Chemistry course at TJ or at any other high-school in
summer 2016 or during 2016-2017 academic-year. It will be taught by a highly
experienced FCPS high-school chemistry teacher. Classes meet twice a week.
HERNDON: Saturday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Sunday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Classes start
on June 25 and end on July 31. ($495)
General high-School Physics/AP Physics: A six weeks course that covers the basic
concepts of a high-school Physics/AP Physics course. This course is highly recommended
for 10th and 11th Grade students who will be taking Physics/AP Physics during 2016-2017
academic-year. The concepts covered in school for both Physics and AP Physics are same
but at a different level. In the past, many students who completed Physics at school
attended our course before taking AP Physics, to solidify the concepts. It will be taught
by a highly experienced George Mason University Physics professor. Classes meet twice
a week.
HERNDON: Saturday 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and Tuesday 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Experimental Physics (open for rising 6th , 7th and 8th Graders only): A six weeks
course that covers an overview of basic physics concepts. This course is intended to
generate interest in the physical Sciences through hands on laboratory activities in
various areas of physics. This course is highly recommended for rising 6th and 7th Graders
and can be used as a strong supporting evidence example in preparing the Student
Information Sheet (SIS) during TJ/AoS admission process. This course is also highly
recommended for rising 8th Graders who have not participated in enough STEM based
activities so far. This course has been a great success in blowing the minds of young
students in the past five years. Physics is the backbone of Engineering and inspiring the
young minds early on is the key for their academic success in later years. It will be taught
by a highly experienced George Mason University Physics professor, who specializes in
high-school physics education and trains high-school physics teachers. Classes meet
twice a week.

I/PSAT/ACT Classes:-
An eight week course designed to prepare
students for the new SAT/PSAT and ACT exams. This class includes preparation for both
math and English portions of the exams. It will be taught by experts in SAT/ACT
coaching with proven results. Classes meet twice a week.

Courses:-
TJ Freshman/ High School Computer Science Course (JAVA): In this six week course
students will learn to program using JAVA, a widely used general purpose programming
language. This course is designed to prepare students to excel in freshman Computer
Science course at TJ and Computer Science course at other high schools. This is a project
oriented course. This course will be taught by a JAVA expert with teaching experience.
Classes meet twice a week.

Introduction to JAVA/ACSL Programming (Rising 6th Graders and up): In this six
week course students will be exposed to basics of programing using JAVA, a widely used
general purpose programming language. This course also serves to introduce the students
to American Computer Science League (ACSL) programming part of the competition.
This course will be taught by a JAVA expert with teaching experience. This course is
highly recommended for rising 6th and 7th Graders and can be used as a supporting
evidence example in preparing the Student Information Sheet (SIS) during TJ/AoS
admission process. Projects will be given in the second half of the course. This course
will be taught by a JAVA expert with teaching experience.
