What is the LISD?
The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD), located in southeast Michigan, serves over 16,000 students in Lenawee County. The LISD is committed to keeping the promise that today’s education will meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Career and technical classes for high school students are available at the
LISD TECH Center. The LISD operates programs for individuals with severe
impairments in several local school districts and at the LISD Milton C. Porter
Education Center. A staff of school social workers, teacher consultants,
psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, and speech pathologists
work with individuals with less severe impairments in the local school districts.
The LISD also offers early childhood programs, adult special education
services, adult learning courses, the LISD PREP Academy’s teen parent
program, and the JC/LISD Academy: A Regional Middle College.
The LISD supports Lenawee’s public and nonpublic school districts in
championing each student’s highest level of achievement through curriculum
and consultation services ranging from professional development, literacy, and
countywide curriculum to assessment, educational technology, and leadership
through research and implementation of best practices in education.
Partnerships are central to the LISD’s mission, vision, and beliefs. Many
services provided are in consortium with other intermediate school districts,
community organizations, business and industry, agencies, and colleges and
universities.
