Run for the Cure Fundraising Events Pink PJ Party Will be held on Friday July 24th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Pink popcorn and pink soft drinks will be served. Cost will be $10.00 per person. Movie will be shown with projector. There will be 50/50 draws and ladies will wear pajamas and bring sleeping bags. Everyone is welcome! Dance Party Will be held Friday August 14th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Pink martinis will be served. There will be Zumba, Belly Dancing and Strip to Fit. Cost will be $15.00 per person and there will be prizes and draws. Kids Fit Fest Will be held Wednesday August 19th. Cost will be $15 per child or $20 for 2 children. There will be water games and obstacle courses. A light lunch will be served. Aerobathon Will be held Saturday September 12 from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. Bonless skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips 1/3 cup BBQ sauce 4 whole wheat tortillas (9 inch), warmed 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese light Cook and stir vegetables in large nonstick skillet on mediumhigh heat 3 min. Who needs to use sunscreen? In a word: everyone! More than 1 million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed this year. Many studies have found an association between sunburns and enhanced risk for melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Regardless of skin type, a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of at least 15 should be year-round. 2. What are UVA and UVB rays? Sunlight consists of two types of harmful rays—ultraviolet A (UVA) rays and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. UVA penetrate deeper into the dermis, the thickest layer of the skin. UVB rays are the sun’s burning rays and are the primary cause of sunburn. A good way to remember it is that UVA rays are the aging rays and UVB rays are the burning rays. Excessive exposure to both forms of UV rays can lead to the development of skin cancer. 3. When should sunscreen be used? Sunscreen should be applied every day to exposed skin, not just if you are going to be in the sun. It’s never too late to protect yourself from the sun to minimize your future risk of skin cancer. Don’t reserve the use of sunscreen only for sunny days. Even on a cloudy day, up to 80% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays can pass through the clouds. In addition, sand reflects 25% of the sun’s rays and snow reflects 80% of the sun’s rays. 4. How much sunscreen should I use, and how often should it be applied? Sunscreens should be applied to dry skin 15-30 minutes before going outdoors. When using sunscreen, be sure to apply it to all exposed areas and pay particular attention to the face, ears, hands and arms. Coat the skin and rub it in thoroughly. Most people only apply 25-50% of the recommended amount of sunscreen. One ounce, is considered the amount needed to cover the exposed areas of the body properly. Don’t forget the lips get sunburned too, so apply a lip balm that contains sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. 5. What type of sunscreen should I use? Sunscreens are available in many forms including ointments, creams, gels, lotions, sprays, and wax sticks. The type of sunscreen you choose is a matter of personal choice. Ideally, sunscreens should be water-resistant, so they cannot be easily removed by sweating or swimming, and should have an SPF of 15 or higher that provides broad-spectrum coverage against both UVA and UVB lights.
