Our theme for this year is “God’s Design for Life”. Every
year we try to have an educational, fun, and peaceful year. We
have this theme because it explains what this year is all about.
Everyone in the school is trying to follow this year’s theme; it’s
about including everyone. There are many new students at our
school and it’s important to keep them and everyone involved.
This theme involves helping, caring, and happiness. God truly
has designed everyone’s life. His designs are all different, but in
some ways, they are the same. God has different plans for everyone. It’s about how God is leading our way. The classrooms
made something to go along with the theme. Grade 1 made little
trains that fit together like a puzzle. Second grade made a colorful cross made from their school pictures which were glued onto
puzzle pieces to form a cross. Both grades 3 and 4 decorated
puzzle pieces, while 5th and 6th grades made colorful fish that
had their names on them. Finally, grades 7 and 8 made little people that fit together like puzzle pieces.

Coat Drive
By: Ashley Maczka & Mariah LaRiviere
At first, the coat collection was off to a rocky start, but, after a few days, more and more
winter items were brought in by students. The items collected will help people keep warm in
the winter. Our student council president, Michelle Karparis, motivated our
school to bring in used or new winter items. This coat drive was an important outreach activity for our school. The more coats collected, the more people we can help. A lot of people need coats and winter items, so we were
pleased to make this coat drive happen. The coat drive ended Oct. 21st.
Thank you for your help.
Mrs. Taylor
By: Amber Lempke
Mrs. Taylor is the new third grade teacher at St. Stanislaus School. I interviewed her and
here are some questions and answers. “Where did you teach last?” “I taught at Holy Name in
Springfield” she said. “What grades and subjects did you teach at Holy Name?” “I taught middle school English and social studies and then third grade.” “How long have you been a
teacher?” She has been a teacher for 15 years. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite book
is Where the Red Fern Grows. Now, she teaches third grade at St. Stanislaus School. The best
thing about the school is our chapel she said. That is all about the third grade teacher, Mrs.
Taylor.
Mrs. Corridan
By: Shelby Houle & Alexandra Czarniecki
Mrs. Corridan is a new member of the St. Stanislaus School
teaching staff. She is the new 5th grade teacher. She has been teaching
Social Studies and Science for twenty-five years. Last year, she taught
grades 5-8 at Holy Name School in Chicopee. She sometimes misses
her old school, but she enjoys teaching at St. Stanislaus School. She
likes the other teachers very much and thinks they are very nice. She
knew Mrs. Scanlon before she came to our school. Her favorite subject
is Life Science. Her favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. Now you
know a little more about Mrs. Corridan!

Soccer

Every year St. Stan’s Athletic Association starts the sporting year off
with soccer. This year there are eight teams overall. Four teams, made
up of seventh and eighth graders, play on the larger field, while the four
other teams play on the smaller field. The season is finished. All the
teams did very well. All of the players and parents want to thank the
coaches for giving up their time to coach.
Winter Sports
By: Matt Belanger
The winter sport season is coming up soon.
The St. Stanislaus Athletic Association sponsors
basketball during the winter. The basketball signups have recently finished. Hopefully, with all the
new and former students that signed up we should
have a great team this year. Students will be allowed to join the Ski/Snowboarding Club very
soon. If you want to join later in the year please
contact Sue DeVillier.

Bead Club
By: Ashley Maczka
One of the school’s clubs was bead
club. It was run by Mrs. Shlaferman. It was held every Friday for four weeks. Girls,
grades five and six could have joined. This club made earrings, bracelets, key chains,
and the big final project was a necklace. All the girls enjoyed this club. They all hope
they will have more classes like that in the spring. This was one of the many great
clubs.
The Jump Rope Club
By Julie Miner and Emma Maloney
The Jump Rope Club, a rope skipping program, meets after
school on Tuesdays for four weeks. The first meeting was on October 15.
Students will learn the basic lessons of jumping and turning as well as
some jumping tricks. The goal of the program is for students to increase their speed, power, balance , agility, timing, and rhythm. Every five or seven
minutes the groups of students move to a different activity. All the activities are fun.
Geography Club
By: Emma DeMaio
Nathan Thompson decided to take time out of his busy schedule to
teach students about geography. Mr. Thompson gave us worksheets
about geography. The papers contained cardinal directions, flags, and countries. Mr.
Thompson is the one who came up with the geography club. He is a junior at Holyoke
Catholic High School. He is a former student of our school. He competed in both the 7th
and 8th grade, and he won both Geography Bees. Mr. Thompson is very knowledgeable
about geography. When Mr. Thompson was asked where he wants to go anywhere in the
world, his answer was Dortmund, Germany. He wants to go there because of the culture.
Geography Club was a good experience for all of the students who participated.
