Library Studies Scholarship
Who May Apply: Any student who is:
(1) currently enrolled in a program of library studies, such as MLS,
Librarian Certification, or Library Technology Assistant Certification in a
Texas school.
(2) currently living or working within District 10.
Purpose: To foster participation in the Texas Library Association by offering scholarships to cover registration
fees for luncheon and continuing education at the annual District 10 Fall Meeting and provide an opportunity for
these students to meet librarians and library staff within their district. The TLA District 10 Executive Committee
hopes these scholarships will both increase participation in and encourage growth within District 10 and the
Texas Library Association.
Scholarship will provide:
(1) paid registration to attend the District 10 Fall Meeting – see the District 10 webpage for information on date
and location: http://www.txla.org/groups/dist10/Index.htm Travel expenses are not included.
(2) paid membership in the Texas Library Association for the calendar year following the Fall Meeting.
Scholarship recipients must attend the District 10 Fall Meeting in order to receive TLA membership.
Selection Criteria: Up to ten scholarships will be awarded based on
(1) verification of current enrollment in a library program at a Texas school.
(2) completion of the following statement (100 words or less): If awarded this scholarship, I
am interested in participating in the Texas Library Association and District 10 activities
because_________________________________________.
(3) order in which applications are received, if needed for selection of equally qualified
candidates.
Deadline: Must be postmarked by September 30, 2012 (14 days prior to the District 10 Fall
Meeting).
