Born Robert Zimmerman on 5/24/1941 in Duluth, Minnesota; raised in Hibbing, Minnesota. Highly influential, legendary
singer/songwriter/guitarist/harmonica player. Innovator of folk-rock style. Took stage name from poet Dylan Thomas. To New
York City in December 1960. Worked Greenwich Village folk clubs. Signed to Columbia Records in October 1961. Motorcycle
crash on 7/29/1966 led to short retirement. Subject of documentaries Don't Look Back and Eat The Document. Acted in movies
Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid, Renaldo And Clara (also directed) and Hearts Of Fire. Newly-found Christian faith reflected in his
recordings of 1979-81. Member of the supergroup Traveling Wilburys. His son Jakob is lead singer of The Wallflowers.
