Attention Seniors: The last day to make Grad Nite
payment of $95 is on April
5th (4/5). & the last day to make Prom payment of $85 is April 7th (4/7). NO
EXCEPTIONS.
AP Exam payments have been extended to this Wednesday. If students qualify for a
free waiver; they need to bring the letter of proof from the Food Service Dept. & pay
the fee tomorrow of $5.00, If you don’t have proof of free or reduced lunch, the fees
per testing that you will have to pay is $93.00, not $5.00.
Summer School applications are now available in the student center. Please see your
counselor for detailed information. Deadline to turn them in is Friday, April 14, 2017.

Seniors please submit your college acceptances to Ms. Reynoso as soon as you get

6. The Pasadena Educational Foundation is looking for some bright, enthusiastic
Spanish speakers in grades 9-12 who would be interested in serving as Volunteer
Classroom Assistants this summer. One of our school sites, San Rafael Elementary, will
focus on Spanish language immersion classes for students in grades K-5 who are
learning Spanish. Spanish speaking high school students might enjoy this opportunity
to use their language skills in a fun classroom environment! Also, this is a great way to
gain professional experience, build a resume and fulfill thee 60 hours
of community service required for graduation. The program runs 5 weeks June 12-July
13 (Monday- Thursday 8:00 am- 12:00 pm). We ask that our volunteers be in grades 912 and commit to at least two weeks out of the five. To volunteer apply now at

As a result of Chevron’s continual commitment in education and STEM,
we will be selecting 20 outstanding high school students (rising juniors and rising
seniors are eligible to apply) from across the U.S. to attend the Chevron sponsored
summer educational camp, "Frontiers of Energy Resources", hosted at the University
of Southern California and scheduled for June 25 – 30, 2017. While on campus, room
and board will be covered by Chevron. This competitive summer program, in its 9th
year, will introduce students to the science foundation of energy resources. They will
also learn about the career possibilities in energy resources fields. Applicants should

and download the teacher recommendation form. The application deadline is April 7,

Ovations is back! From April 20th through the 22nd, Ovations musical theater
brings Broadway to our lovely amphitheater for "World of Wonder!" Come see your
fellow students perform selections from Shrek the Musical, James and the Giant Peach,
the Wiz, Aladdin, and more! Visit Ms. Josie at the Student Store for $10 tickets or go
online to Ovations2017.eventbrite.com. VIP tickets and group tickets are available, so
bring everyone you know!

The Million Word Challenge started already and will run through 5/5! Grand
prize is a $60 Vroman's gift card. Grade level winners will receive $30 Vroman's gift
cards, and second place grade level winners $15 from Vroman's. Ready, Set, Read!!

10. This summer, Cal State LA's Charter College of Education (CCOE) will host a 3-week
Reading and Writing Clinic for students from Pre-K through Community College.
Registration begins early spring and is on a first come first served basis. The CSULA
Charter College of Education’s Reading & Writing Clinic also offers an inexpensive
three week Summer Reading Camp for area Pre-Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle
School, High School, and Community College level students. The camp meets Monday
through Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Students participate in small group tutoring
sessions with time for outdoor games and crafts! For more information go to

Scholarships:
11. The Pasadena NAACP
Maurice Morse Scholarship is now
available. The purpose of the Maurice Morse Scholarship is to provide post high school
financial assistance to African-American students who reside in Pasadena or South
Pasadena, or who will graduate within the Pasadena Unified School District. Four Blair
High School Students were awarded scholarships in 2016! Come see your counselor for
an application. Applications must be received at the Pasadena NAACP office by 5:00pm
on Friday, April 7, 2017. Come to the student center to see if you meet the criteria.
12. Pasadena Water& Power
would like to honor two outstanding Pasadena
Unified School District high school students with an educational scholarship for the
upcoming 2017-2018 academic year. They will be awarding a first place $5,000
scholarship and a second place $2,500 scholarship. Submit completed application no
later than April 10, 2017 to [email protected]. Participants must reside
within the PWP service territory. For more information come to the Student Center.

The Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors Charitable
Foundation is pleased to inform you that they once again are awarding a total of
$10,000 in scholarships to seniors graduating from a public high school this year.
Ideally we would like to award one $1000 scholarship per school. All students are
encouraged to apply for these awards. All applications must be received by Friday,
April 14th, 2017. Come to the student center for an application.

The Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority Scholarship Fund was created to award women
with the same dedication to academics and our community as the sisters of Sigma Pi
Alpha Sorority. Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority will provide the top one (1) applicant with a
scholarship of $500 and the next nine (9) runner-up applicants will receive a
scholarship of $250- $400 each. Come to the counseling office to see if you are
eligible. Applications are due: April 15, 2017 (POSTMARKED).

The Pasadena Police Officers Association (PPOA) is seeking qualified
candidates for our Community Scholarship Awards Program, and we would love to
see some Blair High School seniors apply! This year we’re offering the PPOA
Community Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and $500 Lloyd M. Kirby Memorial
Community Scholarships. Seniors who attend high school in Pasadena and plan to
major in a law enforcement/criminal justice related field or who have served in a
Police Explorers program are eligible to apply. We also offer awards to dependents of
current/retired Pasadena Police Department officers. All materials must be received by
April 15, 2017. Come to the student center for more information.
16. St. Barnabas Church is offering two Leon Conerly Scholarships. These scholarships are
being offered to students that are residing in the Pasadena/Altadena area and are
$500 each. These awards are in recognition of community service and are designed to
provide financial assistance to college bound students. Completed scholarship
application need to be postmarked no later than April 21, 2017. Come to the
counseling office for an application and for more information.
