Saturday November Class Schedule_Layout 1 11/2/2012 1:30 PM Page 2 Wesley Glen Retirement Community WELLness Class Descriptions Arthritis Aquatics: Using certified exercises through the Arthritis Foundation, this class focuses on range-of-motion, flexibility, strengthening and endurance. Non-swimming movements are slow and gentle through the water. Balance & Agility: This 45 minute class has standing and seated portions which focus on strength, balance and agility. This class offers a combination of upper and lower body work. Chair Yoga: Using modified yoga poses and movements done in a chair, this class creates an awareness of breathing and body movement. The majority of the exercises concentrate on the shoulders and hips. Multi-Move Cardio Class: Done in the pool, this workout includes light jogging and stretching to warm-up, 30-minutes of exercises to increase the heart rate, and the use of dumbbells and noodles for strengthening the arms and legs. Strength & Stability: The class concentrates on building core strength, stability and cardio health. The workout is done using hand weights, bands and balls while seated. Tai Chi: This is an ancient form of exercise based on martial arts. Its slow movements improve balance, strength and agility as well as cardiovascular and respiratory health. The form used is a 12-movement form that is fun, relaxing and meditative. Water Aerobics: This lower intensity water class emphasizes joint range of motion, water walking, and strengthening exercises for both the upper and lower body. Family Swim: Children age 12 and younger must have a parent present in the pool area. Parents of children who are non-swimmers must be in the water with their children. Lap Swim: Pool is reserved for lap swimming and water walking. Open: This is an open swim time. Swimmers choice, the pool is not reserved for classes or lap swim. Water Aerobics: Class is scheduled in the pool. The pool is closed to lap swimming and open swim.
