South Carolina State Standards for
Science Grades K-6
A field trip with the Kiawah Island Nature Program can meet South Carolina State Science
Standards for grade levels K-6. Please review the description for classes offered to see what you
are interested in and take a look at the standards that we are able to meet for that class. Please let
us know before your scheduled trip if there are specific standards that you would like us to focus
on and we will be happy to accommodate you. We are also able to offer some level of Scientific
Inquiry for all of the classes with a more extensive inquiry in the Pond Exploration, Marsh
Ecology. Although our classes are not taught in a classroom per se we do maintain an
understanding of the importance of ADEPT Performance Standards and strive to meet the
domains of Planning, Instruction, and “Classroom Environment”.
