Our big, 5 grade field trip to JA BizTown in Tempe is Tuesday, Dec. 2. We need many parent volunteers to help us
for the day. Parents will arrive 1 ½ hours early (8:00 AM) at BizTown for training, and students will arrive at 9:30 AM.
This week we will be learning about interests, skills, and careers in JA. It would be helpful for your child to browse
various careers at http://www.bls.gov/k12/content/students/careers/career-exploration.htm
The historical fiction or historical non-fiction research poster is due November 19. On a ½ size poster will include a title
(topic), 4 subtopics each with a title/picture/information, and a reference on the back. If your child is reading a fiction
book, he or she may need additional information to complete the research.
Grandparents Day is Tuesday, November 25. Sign up on Shutterfly if you would like to send in food and supplies.

Students were given the instructions for the Science Game Project. This is a large portion of the 2 quarter grade.
Like the book report projects, this is a long-term, at-home project. See the instruction sheet for detailed information.
Students have finished the rough draft for the essay, A Child’s Journey Through Ellis Island. Students will now add
descriptive words and additional historical facts (at school). After Thanksgiving, students will then revise the typed
