Advisory Committee Mission Statement
To provide support to the Registrar of Voters concerning effective voter registration, education,
publicity and bilingual poll worker recruitment efforts to increase electoral participation in the
Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese speaking communities within Alameda County.
Language Advisory Groups
Since the establishment of the Language Advisory Committees in 2012, the Alameda County
Registrar of Voters has had the continued support of community based organizations in the area. The
committee meets regularly to develop methods and programs to increase voter participation
amongst the Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese speaking communities. All individuals or
organizations are invited to send representatives to attend our meetings or to become members of
the advisory committee.
Language Assistance
The Alameda County Registar of Voters provides election information and assistance in English,
Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese. Target precincts are assigned bilingual poll workers who
speak the primary language and are committed to providing timely and accurate language assistance
to voters in Alameda County. On election day, language assistance is readily available at any polling
place provided by bilingual poll workers, bilingual troubleshooters or through a telephone call to
our trained bilingual staff.
About the Language Advisory Committees
The Language Advisory Committees are composed of volunteers and representatives from language based communities and organizations.
Since its inception in 2012, the committees have continuously assisted the Registrar of Voters in determining how to most effectively provide
language election materials and information to increase the participation of limited English speaking voters in the democratic electoral process.
The Language Advisory Committee consist of members from the following organizations:

Catholic Charities • Chinese American Citizen Alliance • Dien Hong Senior Center • Diocese of Oakland • East Bay Community Law Center

Raise Money for your Church, School or Community
Gather people to donate one day of their time to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters and
raise money for your church or organization. The group could raise from $110 to $180 for
every poll worker that works on Election Day. Bilingual Workers earn an extra $10!
