Parking:
During all four sessions of our meet, we have been requested to park in the
Aquarena overflow parking lot which has its entrance near the CBC parking lot off
Westerland Road. Please ensure that all parents and officials use this parking area.
Do not leave valuable visible in vehicles as break ins are not uncommon.

Entry Fees:
Meet Entry Fees are $67.00 per swimmer, which includes individual event and relay
entry fees, the $7.00 levy for the provincial electronic timing system and $5.00 for
swimmer development fund. These fees are non-refundable once a swimmer is
registered. Cheques should be made payable to St. John's Legends. Meet
management reserves the right to refuse deck access to a club for non-payment of
complete entry fees.
Due to the budgeting involved in a long course meet, teams are
requested to confirm their intention to attend by email to the Meet
Manager, with an estimate of the number of swimmers by Friday, April
17 th .
Entries:
Entries are to be submitted using the SNC online entry protocol
https://www.swimming.ca/MeetList.aspx and receipt will be confirmed by that
system upon review by the Meet Manager.
§ The Meet Manager must be able to view entries no later than 6:00 PM
Thursday April 23 rd . All late entries will incur a $100.00 penalty with no
exceptions, payable to the St. John’s Legends.
§ Team Entries will be e-mailed Friday, April 24th and any corrections must be
received by 6:00 PM Monday, April 27 th . After this time, no refunds will
be issued for scratches.
§ Heat sheets will be made available to coaches via email by Wednesday, April
29th.
To ensure correct seeding for long course events, all clubs are
requested to adhere to the following instructions.
§ When exporting the entries file from Team Manager DO NOT click
unconverted times box
§ Ensure the Bonus box is selected if adding a 7th individual event
§ Completed relay team entries including the names are a must!
§ Relay changes only (not entries) will be accepted, and scratches will
be accepted 30 minutes prior to the start of the session in which any relay will
be swum. Relay names will not be printed in programs to ensure the coaches’
right to change the relay swimmers’ names.
Coaches:
There will be a mandatory Coaches Meeting that must have representation from
each team.

At this time, full payment is due, and certification of coaches will be confirmed.
No deck access will be permitted if entry fees and/or certification are
outstanding.
Relay cards will be distributed.
Any procedural or logistical changes will be broadcast.
All coaches must be in good standing with SNC, the NLSCA and the CSCA in order
to coach at any sanctioned competition.
SNL policy requires that all coaches be certified a minimum Skills
Coach to receive deck access for this competition.
Deck Access:
Access to the pool deck will be restricted to swimmers, coaches, and session
officials.
Eligibility:
All swimmers must be registered members in good standing with SNL, SNC or FINA
affiliate by the meet entry-date deadline.
Rules:
SNC rules will govern the meet. This meet has been sanctioned by Swim NL.
Exhibition swims will not be permitted.

Entry Limitations:
Swimmers are permitted to enter up to 6 individual events. NEW – Swimmers
must select 3 of the 50m events, versus 4 in previous years. (For
example, should a swimmer only enter two 50 meter events, he/she is still only
permitted to select three other individual events).
Swimmers can also select 1 bonus individual event (a 7th event). Time permitting,
as well as at the meet manager’s discretion, bonus events will be included. The
bonus event must be identified as such in the entry file.
The Meet Manager reserves the right to move events and/or limit the number of
heats for any/all events in order to run the meet in the time allotted.
Relays
All relay swimmers must be entered in individual events. Relay teams will be
entered in the age group of the oldest swimmer. Smaller clubs, who cannot field a
team due to limited available swimmers, may combine their swimmers in a blended
team to allow for participation.
Meet Format:
All individual events to be swum slowest to fastest, mixed gender . All events
will be broken into gender and age groups for awards and scoring purposes.

Scratches:
Scratches will be accepted up to one-half (1/2) hour prior to the start of each session.
Coaches are asked to use scratch sheets, which will be available at the Meet
Manager’s office. Please fill in swimmer’s name, event number, heat, and lane.
Scoring:
Individual Awards:
- Certificates will be given to all swimmers with results for their events included.
- Medals will be awarded to the top 3 male and the top 3 female swimmers (FINA
pts) in the 10 & Under 50 Free and the 10 & Under 200 IM
- The “Speedy Swimmer” Awards will be presented to the swimmers achieving
the highest FINA points for one of the 50 meter events for age groups 11, 12,
13, 14, 15, and 16 - 25.
Top Team Awards:
Top Team Award: total team points divided by number of individual swims, based on
individual scoring only (20, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11) in each age group (varsity &
masters clubs are excluded). Top Team award will be announced via email within
24 hours of end of meet. The award will be sent to the winning team.

Warm Ups:
All swimmers will warm up at the same time.
Officials:
OFFICIALS’ MEETING: There will be an Officials’ Meeting 30 minutes prior to the
start of each session. Assistance with officiating by qualified persons from each club
is always appreciated. (The Aquarena requires more than 40 officials per session).
Officials should wear white clothing. Scheduling of official's assignments may be
made directly with Kerri Wareham at [email protected].
SNL POLICY STATES:
Officials
(a) Clubs participating in sanctioned meets shall be required to provide Officials for
each session. As a minimum, Clubs registering:
(i) 5 swimmers or less – 1 Official per session
(ii) 6 to 20 swimmers – 2 Officials per session
(iii) Over 21 swimmers – 3 Officials per session
(b) The Meet Manager or designate, shall be responsible to ensure that there are
sufficient Officials from the Host club to fill vacant positions not covered by officials
from the participating clubs.
(c) Clubs are required to submit the list of officials with team entries.
(d) Exception to this requirement will be granted to St. Pierre and Labrador.

November 25, 2014 SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-­‐UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-­‐up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-­‐UP: ·∙ Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. ·∙ Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. ·∙ Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-­‐up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-­‐competition handout, announcement or deck signage. ·∙ Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. ·∙ Only one-­‐way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. ·∙ Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-­‐up. EQUIPMENT: ·∙ Kick Boards, Pull-­‐Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-­‐up time. ·∙ Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-­‐up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. ·∙ Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-­‐up at any time. VIOLATIONS: ·∙ Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-­‐up period in which the violation occurred. ·∙ In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed. SAFETY MARSHALS: The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: ·∙ Be visible by safety vest ·∙ Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-­‐
up tanks when pre-­‐competition warm-­‐ups are scheduled. ·∙ Actively monitor all scheduled warm-­‐up periods. ·∙ Ensure participants comply with warm-­‐up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. PARA-­‐SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-­‐swimmers participating in warm-­‐ups where necessary and at the coach’s discretion. The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices: “SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN
EFFECT AT THIS MEET.”
