The INSITE (IN-home Sensory Impaired Training and Education) Training is an introductory course that provides professionals the opportunity to learn how to strengthen and form partnerships with families of infants, toddlers, and preschool children who have multiple disabilities and /or dual sensory impairments in the home setting. Participants will learn the INSITE approach to gathering information, child assessment, and program planning needed for the IFSP/IEP. Participants will be provided a resource manual that will help them gather information and activities to improve communication, vision, hearing, motor, daily care, and psycho-emotional support. This is a 4-day training. Certified INSITE Trainers: Barb Williams, M.Ed., is an Early Intervention Specialist with Cleveland Sight Center. She has worked with children and adults with hearing impairments, vision impairments, autism, and multiple disabilities since 1998. She holds a teaching license and Early Intervention credentials from the state of Ohio, taught courses at Kent State University, and served as a trainer of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires. Barb has been a trainer of the INSITE model since 2006. Janet Stone, M.Ed., is a licensed Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Teacher of the Multiply Handicapped and Early Intervention Specialist. She has worked with children with visual impairments, deafblindness, and multiple disabilities for over 30 years. Janet is currently a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for Akron City Schools. She has also taught at Cuyahoga Community College and is a co-author of “Taking A Look” vision screening tool for Ohio’s Help Me Grow. Janet is a consultant for the Ohio Center for Deafblind Education and a trainer for both the INSITE and VIISA courses.
