Field at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville..the Shuckers serve as the
home team, batting last in all 5 games of the series…today is the fourth of
15 meetings between the clubs as 10 of the 15 will be played in Jacksonville (5 as home team, 5 as road team)...game 9 of a stretch of 17 games in
15 days (4-4) in 3 cities and game 4 of 9 games over the next 7 days (2-1)..
game 13 and day 15 of a 55-game road trip away from Biloxi in 59 days.
PITCHING MATCHUP: 23-year-old LHP Hobbs Johnson toes the rubber
for the third time this season tonight. Johnson has no record and a 1.42 ERA (1
ER/6.1 IP) during his first two starts. Johnson has held the opposition to a .217
average so far. He was the Brewers’ 14th round pick in the 2013 draft out of the
University of North Carolina...22-year-old RHP Austin Brice makes his third
start for the Suns Thursday night. Brice is 0-1, with a 5.79 ERA surrendering
6 runs on 6 hits in his last outing on 4/18 vs. MTG. Brice was the Marlins 9th
round selection in the 2010 draft out of Northwood HS (NC).
SHUCKERS RECAP: Starter Tyler Barnes became the first 3-game winner on the mound Thursday, tossing six, three-hit innings in a 4-1 comefrom-behind victory at Bragan Field. Wagner is now 3-for-3 in wins and
posted his second quality start allowing just the three hits and one run,
while walking one, striking out three and getting nine ground ball outs.
Biloxi scored three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to negate
an early 1-0 deficit after a third inning homer from Jacksonville’s Justin
Bohn. Orlando Arcia (1x2, RBI, R, 12G on-base streak), Nick Ramirez
(1x4, R, RBI) and Yadiel Rivera (1x3, 3B, R, 10G hit streak) led the way
offensively. Reliever Jaye Chapman picked up his first save of the year
and first since July 18, 2012. (See a listing of all the Biloxi firsts on page
12 of the game notes).
MISTAKE FREE BASEBALL: The Shuckers have played error free baseball in 10-straight games and have committed just one error in 2015. The error was committed by SS Orlando Arcia in the 1st inning of Biloxi’s 7-1 victory at Pensacola on 4/10. That led to the only unearned run of the season.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Shuckers take on the Jacksonville Suns
this week as the home team for the first time. The Shuckers will serve as
the home team on the road at Mississippi as well, May 6-10 at Trustmark
Park in Pearl. Officially, the attendance for these games will be listed for
Biloxi as well as the overall home record.
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY: Through the first 12 games of the inaugural season, the Shuckers have endured two rain-shortened games (4/10, 4/12)
and three rain postponements (4/13 at PNS, 4/15 at MOB, 4/20 at JAX). In
total, 2 hours and 32 minutes of rain delay duration and only four games
have reached nine innings.

THE ROAD WARRIORS: The Shuckers begin the inaugural season away
from home while MGM Park is being constructed and have a provisional
scheduled 55-game road trip to start the season. The Shuckers will serve
as the “home team” during five-game series at Jacksonville, April 20-24, vs.
Mobile in Huntsville, April 30-May 4, at Mississippi, May 6-10, vs. Jacksonville, May 16-19 in Huntsville (includes a doubleheader) and vs. Birmingham,
May 21-25 in Huntsville. The long road trip is not the first for a minor league
team as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, Triple-A affiliate of the Yankees
played their entire 144-game schedule away from home in 2012 because of
stadium renovations. The club played 37 of those games in Rochester, NY.
OPENING DAY ROSTER FILLED WITH PROSPECTS: The Shuckers’
Inaugural roster features 10 of the top-30 prospects in the Milwaukee Brewers’ organization, according to Baseball America. Of the 10, three are in the

WHO ARE THE SHUCKERS?: Formerly the Huntsville Stars, the new Biloxi professional baseball team revealed the new identity on November 24, 2014, as the Biloxi Shuckers took center stage during a ceremony
inside Biloxi’s historic Saenger Theatre. The team name was selected after nearly 60,000 votes were cast
after the month-long “Name the Team” contest yielded six finalists. A tenacious oyster is the centerpiece of
the identity, seen both in the club’s primary logo, home and alternate caps. The letters “BS” to make up the
road cap designation - the Biloxi Lighthouse logo, resiliently rising above historic storm waters. Gulf Blue,
Sand, Coral, and Black make up the club’s new official colors, paying tribute to the Gulf Coast. The Shuckers
are the first professional sports team to use this color combination.
ABOUT BILOXI: Founded in the late 17th century by French explorers, Biloxi has a population of 44,578
and is the home of Keesler Air Force Base... With many wonderful beaches, golf courses, fishing charters,
museums and the iconic Biloxi Lighthouse, Biloxi is the perfect place for friends and families to get away and
take a much-needed vacation.
COMING SOON...MGM Park: As the Shuckers begin the 2015 season on the road, their future home, MGM
Park is currently being constructed.MGM Park is located off of Highway 90 and Interstate 110, adjacent to
Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, MGM Park is within walking distance of downtown Biloxi and beaches of the
Gulf Coast. The stadium, being built by the city of Biloxi, broke ground on January 24, 2014 and is being
constructed by Architect Dale Partners P.A. of Biloxi and Yates Construction. MGM Park is 455,000 square
feet and will seat 6,067 for baseball and up to 15,000 for concerts. Home plate will sit 21 feet above sea level
and currently the dimensions are LF- 326’, CF- 401’, RF- 326’.

BILOXI BASEBALL HISTORY: Pro baseball is not totally new to the Gulf Coast, but it is the first since 1908. The
Gulfport-Biloxi Sand Crabs of the Cotton States League played half a season in Biloxi during the summer of 1908.
Many Major League and som Minor League teams held spring traing in the area. Even the 1920 Milwaukee Brewers
of the American Association (direct descendant of the current Brewers) trained in Gulfport. See below.

Today’s Start: 23-year-old lefty Hobbs Johnson makes his third start of the 2015 season, having
just 6.1 innings under his belt. The southpaw has struck out seven over that span, but has allowed nine
baserunns. This will be Johnson’s 39th career game and 27th career start.
Last Outing: Johnson rebounded nicely after struggling in his first start of the season. Against Mobile,
the lefty did not allow a run on three hits and five strikeouts over four innings and was much more economic with his pitches (54) compared to his first start (2.1 IP, 61).
2015: The lefty allowed 4 runs - 3 earned - over 6.1 innings over spring training, adding 3 walks and 2
strikeouts.
2014: Was among the Florida State League leaders in opponent batting average (2nd, .221),
wins (T3rd, 12), ERA (4th, 2.93) and innings pitched (4th, 147.2).
2013: Split his first pro season between Rookie Helena and Class-A Wisconsin, posting a combined 0.86
ERA in 11 relief appearances (21 IP, 32 SO).

Manager, Carlos Subero
COACHING STAFF
Subero, 42, begins his second season in the Brewers organization as manager at the Double-A level. Subero led the Huntsville Managing Career
Team
Stars to a 77-63 record and a postseason berth last season.
GCL Rangers
Prior to joining the Brewers, Subero managed five seasons in
the Dodgers organization at Class-A Inland Empire (2009), Double-A Chattanooga (2010-12) and Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
(2013). He led the Lookouts to the playoffs in 2011 after clinching
the Southern League’s second-half North Division title with a 4227 record after the All-Star break.
During his only season as a manager in the White Sox organization, Subero led Double-A
Birmingham to a 74-63 record and a Southern League playoff berth in 2008.

Subero began his coaching career in the Rangers organization, including two seasons as
hitting coach with the Rookie Gulf Coast League Rangers (1999-2000) and seven seasons
as manager with the GCL Rangers (2001-02), Class-A Clinton (2003-05) and Class-A Bakersfield (2006-07). His clubs reached the postseason in each of his three seasons with Clinton. Subero owns a 871-914 (.488) record over 13 seasons as a
minor-league manager.
Coach, Sandy Guerrero
Guerrero, 48, enters his 13th season as a coach in the Brewers organization. He previously coached at Double-A Huntsville (2003-08,
2014) and Triple-A Nashville (2009-11). In addition, he spent two seasons as hitting coordinator from 2012-13.
Guerrero served as manager for the Northern Division in the 2007 Southern League All-Star Game after scheduled manager Don
Money pulled out of the contest to coach in the All-Star Futures Game. Another career highlight came in July 2009 when he served as
the pitcher for Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder during the MLB Home Run Derby in St. Louis. Fielder won the contest.
Before coaching, Guerrero had a 19-year playing career that included stints in the minor leagues with Toronto and Milwaukee. He also
played professionally in Mexico, Taiwan and the independent Northern League.
The former infielder played in the Brewers’ farm system with Class-A Stockton (1986-88), Double-A El Paso (1989-90) and Triple-A
Denver (1991-92). In 1998, Guerrero won a league championship in Taiwan, claiming the batting title with a .361 batting average.
Guerrero’s father, Epy, was a renowned Major League scout in the Dominican Republic, while his brother, Mike, is the first base coach with the Brewers. Sandy
and his wife, Jessica, reside in Huntsville, Alabama.
Pitching Coach, Chris Hook
Hook, 46, is in his eighth season in the Brewers organization. He served as pitching coach at Double-A Huntsville each of the past three
seasons.
Hook originally joined the organization as pitching coach at Huntsville in 2008, and spent three seasons in the same role with Class-A
Wisconsin from 2009-11 before returning to Huntsville (2012-14).
This past offseason, he served as pitching coach with the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League.
Prior to joining the Brewers, Hook was the pitching coach for the Florence Freedom of the independent Frontier League from 2003-07.
He also spent three seasons as the pitching coach for Northern Kentucky University from 2000-02.
Hook was a pitcher for 11 professional seasons (1989-99), including two years in the Major Leagues with San Francisco from 1995-96. He went 5-2 with a 5.89
ERA in 55 career Major League games. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by Cincinnati in 1989, he also pitched in the minor leagues with San Diego,
San Francisco, California and Houston. He finished his playing career in the independent Atlantic League.
Since 2001, Hook has owned and operated a baseball training center based in Florence, Kentucky, where he resides along with his wife, Toni, and their two sons,
Christian and Brennan.
