Try to read with them every night. We will be reading with them everyday in class and it is a real boost to a child’s confidence and understanding if parents read with them frequently. Go over number patterns with them and talk to them about the time. Try counting out loud, writing the numbers down, recognising the numbers in the world around you e.g. TV, packets and labels, at the shop. Also talking to them about which day of the week it is and when a new month begins can be really useful in reinforcing the things we are learning in class.
