Last Train leaving Streetsbrook Station
It is with much sadness that we have to inform you that
the fabulous play train sited in the front playground is
no longer in service due to its age and condition. The
final journey of the train will be in half term when the
train will be derailed and decommissioned. The school
is working with the PTA to look to fundraise for other
exciting options for this site and further details will
follow.
The train has taken
so many children on
exciting adventures
over the years!

NO Scooting on the playground
Can we please remind you that children are not
permitted to scoot across the playground at
drop off and collection times. The playground is incredibly
busy at these times and we ask that children push their
scooters off site before mounting them. Thank you
PTA NEWS
Well the academic new year is upon us and we are planning
ahead for fun and fundraising. The AGM showed a healthy
bank account which we plan on spending for the benefit of
the children here and now! New iPads are being sourced to
enable whole classes to work with the most current
technology. Priorities also include Maths and English support
materials to enable in-depth work in these areas and of
course we are looking at improving the hall and developing
the train area are on our shortlist. Thanks for all support to
date and we look forward to your continued efforts to fulfil
our goals.

STREETSBROOK CHILDCARE
Little Stars have had a lovely time this week
learning all about the doctors surgery. They have been
getting into character and have been forming friendships
whilst they act out a role they know quite well.
Little Rockets have loved utilising our Woodland Area.
They thrive in the outdoor environment and have been
building dens and shelters and have even been acting out
‘We're going on a bear hunt’! Wraparound have loved
learning about kindness and beauty whilst reading ‘Only
One You’.
Please could we ask you to send in Autumn family selfies
whilst you're out and about over the weekend, perhaps at
the park or taking a stroll, why not take a selfie with the
family and send it in. We will use it as a discussion in the
room and might even put them up on display!

YEAR 2:
We've had an incredibly exciting week in Year 2 this week,
with our classrooms being turned into Willy Wonka's
chocolate factory, complete with
chocolate tasting! Meanwhile in
Maths, we've been using the
game Scrabble to add many
Single digits together and in
Science, we observed a local
habitat and microhabitat and
were amazed with what we found.
Thank you to the
parents
who
helped with the
Harvest
Festival
walking
the
children did us
proud with their
singing
and
actions!
NURSERY
The children have had a super week learning all about
autumn. We started our learning with an autumn walk
around the school grounds. They were able to find
autumnal objects and start to realise the changes that
were happening with the weather.
Back in the classroom they have enjoyed exploring and
investigating the leaves and conkers with the magnifying
glasses. They have been having a go at observational
drawings and playing an autumn matching game.
We had our first PE lesson this week and the children
discovered ‘the hall’. Please could we remind you that each
child needs a pair of black plimsoll pumps in a named bag
(to stay in school). Also we ask that you support your
child’s independence with taking off/putting on shoes.
Tempting as it is to speed up the process by doing it for
them. It really helps to speed things up when changing if
they can do it for themselves, and they get a real sense of
achievement. Next week we will be thinking about ‘My
family’. Please remember to send in a family photograph
for your child to use during a speaking activity. If you could
send it in on Monday.
We look forward to seeing you at Parents Evening on
Tuesday and Thursday next week.
YEAR 1:
In addition to our wonderful performance at the Harvest
Festival this week, Year 1 have been doing lots of work
based around the work of Victorian artist LS Lowry. We
have been stepping in to his painting 'Market Scene,
Northern Town' and imagining what it might have been
like to be one of the matchstick characters. We did some
freeze frame drama and then used our senses to describe
what was happening. We have also been working on one
of the market stalls during our maths lessons and using
our knowledge of place value to help the Little Match Girl
make and sell her matches. We have also enjoyed creating
our own Lowry-inspired art and drawing lots of matchstick
people.
RECEPTION:
Well done Reception. Your first ever Harvest Festival
performance was super. Your singing and playing sounded
fantastic in the church and everyone managed to smile
despite the long walk there and back! In school we have
been busy being scientists (investigating floating and
sinking) and engineers (designing and building a boat for
Pirate Jack). We tested our boats to see if they were
seaworthy and have had lots of fun with water play and
imaginative role play. We are all looking forward to our
fabulous topic finale on Tuesday when we will enjoy our
Pirate ‘Shellebration’!
Don’t forget your costume pirates, mermaids and sea
creatures are all welcome.
The teaching staff are also
looking
forward
to
meeting with parents on
Tuesday and Thursday
evening.
