The Franklin County commissioners' Court met in a Workshop Session January 27,20'14 al
2;00 PM at Franklin County Courthouse East Annex located at 502 East Main Street, Mount
Vernon, Texas
Members present: Paul Lovier, County Judge
Danny Chitsey, Commissioner, Precinct 1
Donnie Surratt, Commissioner, Precinct 2
Deryl Carr, Commissioner, Precinct 3
Sam Young, Commissioner, Precinct 4
Betty Crane, County Clerk
VISITORS: Jennifer Jordan, Betty Sue Allen, Dale Jordan, Bill Wilson, Tom Woody, Chad
Woody and Lillie Bush-Reves
Judge Lovier called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM.
County Clerk Betty Crane informed the Court there will possibly be a Local option Election in
November. She reported signatures were being collected on a petition for a Local Option
Election and they have sixty days to collect approximately 1,200 signatures.
Judge Lovier recessed the meeting io the Franklin County Airport to discuss repairs needed
at the airport community room building.
Judge Lovier reconvened the Workshop Session at the airport at 2:15 PM.
COUNTY BUILDING. PROPERW AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE - The main concern for
repairs at the airport is the doors and windows. After much discussion, the Court discussed
replacing three 6 foot metal doors, place '10 x '10 awnings over the doors and 7 to 8 foot
awnings over the windows to protect the windows from the weather and to protect the interior of
the airport from the sun. They also suggested placing gutters on the awnings. At some point
the ceiling tiles will need to be replaced. They also discussed treating termites and ants. Notice
for proposals will be placed in the newspaper. The proposals are to be returned to the Franklin
County Treasurer's Office by February 7, 2014.
No other agenda items were discussed.
Commissioner Surratt made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Young
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
