The Power of Change
Theme Scripture: And Peter said to them, “Repent and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit. Acts 2:38
Repentance
Say It In A Sentence: True repentance is the first step in all
change, but it is not easy.
41
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The
spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
Repentance: a turning away from sin, disobedience, or rebellion
and a turning back to God.
13
Go and learn what this means, „I desire mercy, and not
sacrifice.‟ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matt.
9:13
32
I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to
repentance.” Luke 5:32
Stale (going through the motion) and unholy living hinders
authentic worship.
But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your
burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice?
Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is
better than offering the fat of rams. I Samuel 15:22 NLT
Losing out to old sins or conquered bad habits: Sometime sins
can creep back into your life like an old bad habit. The things that
you thought you conquered a long time ago, or things that you
thought would not be a problem for you.
Matthew 12:43-45 Return of the unclean spirits
A Changed Life
Say It In A Sentence: I can never be different unless I believe
with all my heart that the power of sin has been broken in my
life-that I am dead to the power of sin because of my relationship
with Christ.
1
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you
once walked, following the course of this world, following the
prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the
sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the
passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the
mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of
mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great
love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our
trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you
have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us
with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the
coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace
in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have
been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the
gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in
them. Ephesians 2:10
I’m Dead to That
Let’s examine our salvation.
What do we believe about Jesus?
What have we agreed to do as a result?
Is there a power working in your heart and soul or is it in
your head only?
What do you really want to do?
What are you seriously ready to do?
Lord, I’m Yours
Say It In A Sentence: Victory is accomplished with we offer our
selves alive to God moment by moment.
For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the
wicked stumble in times of calamity. Proverbs 24:16
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through
him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor
angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor
powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus
our Lord. Romans 8:37-39 ESV
The Power Source
Romans 7:13-25
16
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are
wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16
The Power of Faith
Say It In A Sentence: It takes a changed life, to change lives.
Faith in Jesus means to trust Him to live your life according to His
Word and His will; furthermore, it is trusting His way enough to
live it. Obedience is better than sacrifice. God wants our
obedience demonstrated in our faith. If we love Him, we will have
faith in Him. If we have faith in Him, we will obey Him.
