HOW DO I REQUEST A CREDIT BY EXAM (CBE)
THINGS TO KNOW!
Credit by Exams (CBE) are
only available for request the
first 14 days of the Semester.
(Yes, day one is the first day
of the semester.)
If you wish to take a CBE at a
site other than the Green Bay
Assessment Center, please
contact the Site Coordinator
and your instructor to make
arrangements.
Can’t find the Credit by Exam
that you are looking for on the
Request Panel? Please
contact the Division Office
responsible for the course for
more information.
 Log in through your Student Portal (my.ntwc.edu)
o Scroll down and select the “Request Credit by Exam”
o All eligible courses are listed
 Check your student email frequently for notifications!
o You will receive an automated note approving or denying your
request
 Visit the Green Bay Assessment Center (SC 365) to test.
o All Credit by Exam must be taken within twelve days of the
request. (Remember to bring valid photo id when you test!)
 Grade Notification
o Go out to your Student Portal to accept/decline your grade
(Note: Only an A, B, or C grade can be accepted/declined and if
you don’t accept your grade it will automatically be declined!)
Remember that Blackboard exams have a 24 hour
waiting period before you can take them!
BUT I AM NOT ENROLLED IN A COURSE!
 You can still get Credit for Prior Learning by following the steps
above. Only you can sign-up for the test at any time as a NonEnrolled Student.
 Please remember that you also only have fourteen days to take
your exam and there is a fee (50% of the Course) which will be
collected at the Assessment Center prior to taking the test.

You will only receive a grade notification of Pass or Fail. (This
grade is recorded as “EX” on your transcript, which may or may not
be transferrable.)
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I AM FORGETTING?
Go to your Student Portal (my.nwtc.edu) to
sign up for a Credit by Exam!
 Stay in Class! This way your instructor can let you know when
your exam has been graded. Also, if you decide not to accept the
grade then you are still current with the rest of your class.
 You are only allowed one CBE attempt per class per year!
