Red Oaks Primary School 1st March 2017 Newsletter Comic Relief 2017 Comic Relief is on 24th March. The Super Fun Raisers (Charity Club) children have decided to invite all children (and staff) to dress up. The theme they have decided on this year is ‘Crazy Creations’ so we are hoping to see all sorts of creative/clashing and interesting wardrobe combinations; bright colours, spots, stripes and patterns. We look forward to seeing your crazy combinations! If you wish to make a contribution to Comic Relief, we will be having a collection in each class. We thank you in advance. Car Park We have noticed that more and more children are being asked to come out to the car park to meet parents. We have reminded them to stick to the pathways but unfortunately, many are still cutting through parked cars. The car park is a very busy place at the end of the day and sometimes children are not seen easily when they are coming from all angles. Please remind your children of where they should cross and how to move through the car park or come and collect from the classroom door. We don’t want any accidents! Thank you Courage Thank you to those parents and children who have posted in our Courage book on our values page. Please keep posting http://www.redoaks.org/values01.php World Book Day This is on Thursday 2nd March and as usual we are inviting children and staff to dress as a book character. We look forward to seeing which characters we can spot! Reading Competition Red Oaks will be entering a reading competition with our local schools. Each year group will be competing to see who can read and review the most books. This will run from Monday 6th March to Friday 31st March. Once they have read a book of their choice (this can be at home or school), the children will then be able to collect book review strips from their classroom and then hand them to their class teacher when complete. Medical absence from school We have had to make a slight amendment to our attendance policy as local doctors are not giving out sick notes for 5 days or more absence. If your child is ill and absent from school for more than 3 days, we require written or emailed notification from you. Please send to [email protected]. As per policy and safeguarding procedures, someone in the office will text you if we haven’t heard why a child is absent. School Office Hours Our office is open from 8.30am till 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours we do have an answering machine or alternatively please email [email protected]. Contact Details Contact Details Please ensure that if you have changed your phone numbers recently that you have also updated the school as it is very important that we can reach you quickly should the need arise. Many thanks. Early Bird Breakfast Club All children attending Breakfast Club must be walked to the door of the hall and handed over to an adult and not just dropped off in the car park. Many thanks.
