2016 NASA Showcase Classic On March 29th, 24 members of the FISH traveled to Clearwater, FL to participate in the NASA Showcase Classic. The NASA meet is one of the fastest age-group meets in the country, and teams from all over the US flock to Florida to compete against the best of the best. Swimming against top level competition, our swimmers did exceptionally well! We had 7 athletes place as top 10 individual overall scores: Emma Redman – 1st 9 year old girls, Maggie O’Shaughnessy – 3rd 9 year old girls, Courtney Watts – 3rd 9 year old girls, Nicholas Arndt – 3rd 11 year old boys, JT Ewing – 6th 11 year old boys, Liam Redman – 2nd 12 year old boys, and Allison Martin – 6th 13 year old girls! (The FISH girls team came in 2nd place overall, and our boys team (all 7 of them) came in 6th place overall. Combined, the FISH came in 2nd place - our highest team placement ever! We had such a large number of impressive individual swims, Finals swims, best times, and team records, but by far the best part of the week was our relay teams. The Girls 10 & Under squad swept the 4 relay events, and our 11-12 Boys and 11-12 Girls were also extremely competitive against the other top relay teams in the nation. Not only was the swimming fantastic, but the FISH swimmers were laughing, smiling, and having a great time. Check out the pictures to see for yourself! We are already looking forward to a great NASA meet next year, and we hope that you can join us to help our team continue to have such a strong showing!
