Use the internet (some links are provided below) to research other areas of the world affected by El
Niño. What is the impact of El Niño across the globe?
Use the blank world map and a key to identify the effects of El Niño, e.g. drought, increased sea
temperatures, increased rainfall, desert blooms, flash floods, mudslides, etc…
Consider the following points for discussion:
Is there is a pattern of unusual or extreme weather conditions. For example, which areas are
affected by drought, floods? Can you identify a ‘band’ of El Niño conditions across the world?
How, if at all, are we affected in the UK by El Niño?
