Hello all new and returning members of the Sacramento State
Marching Band!
WELCOME TO THE 2016 SEASON
Thank you for your interest in the Sacramento State Marching Band. We
are very excited about our Fall 2016 season and hope you will be part of
it! Our music will be Broadway-themed and the visual book will be
challenging. We need you to be part of the largest group ever to march
at Hornet Stadium!
Members of our Baritone and Euphonium sections get ready to perform.

MEMBER INFORMATION
Regardless if you are new or returning, if you plan to march Fall 2016, you
must email Dr. Redfield at [email protected]. Please include:
1) Your first and last name
2) Gender
3) Instrument (Percussion: please indicate if you are a front ensemble or
battery performer.)
4) T-shirt size
5) Phone number
6) Email address.
Sending this email will confirm your spot on our roster for this season and
ensure that we will be able to communicate with you.
COLORGUARD AUDITIONS
Cologuard auditions will be held on Friday, May 13 from 5:00 – 9:00PM in
Capistrano Hall, room 143. For more information email [email protected].
PERCUSSION CHOP SESSIONS
Chop sessions will be held over the summer for percussionists. Dates and time are
TBD. Please check the Marching Band website for updates.

ENROLLMENT
If you are currently or will be a Sac State student in Fall 2016, please enroll in the
Marching Band course. The course number is MUSC 142M-01, #80322. Rehearsals
are M/W/F 3:30PM – 5:50PM. If you have any problems registering or unit cap
limitations, please contact Dr. Redfield directly at [email protected] for
assistance.
NOT A SAC STATE STUDENT?
You DO NOT need to be a Sac State student to be in the Marching Band. The
Marching Band is open to all community members who have graduated from high
school and are willing to attend the rehearsals and performances.
TRAVELING HORNETS
This year we will be traveling to Santa Cruz for the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Band
Review. This is an opportunity to perform on the Boardwalk for more than a
thousand high school and middle school students from across California. The day
includes free time at the Boardwalk.

BAND CAMP SCHEDULE
If you plan to march this Fall, you must attend Band Camp! These
rehearsals will be both music and marching rehearsals. This week is
important as we will be completing uniform fitting and instrument
checkout.
When: August 22-26, 2016
Time: 5:00PM-9:00PM
Where: Sacramento State, Capistrano Hall, Room 143

INSTRUMENT CHECK-OUT AND LOCKERS
If you plan to use a university instrument, you will need to arrive early to check
one out. Our instrument technician, Dan Truitt, will be available the Friday
before camp, August 19, during office hours (7:30AM – 4:30PM) and Monday,
August 22 (extended hours).
Our Events Manager, Glenn Disney, will be assigning lockers after students
receive instruments.
Every student will need to purchase a Music Fee Card. The cost is $40 for the
entire semester and includes an instrument/colorguard equipment and locker
in Capistrano Hall. To purchase a fee card, visit the Student Financial Services
Center in Lassen Hall Room 1001 and ask to pay the $40 Music Fee Card Fee.
Please do NOT purchase the $20 Music Fee Card as this does not cover
instrumental rentals.
*Sac State students: This fee will automatically be included in your student
registration fees if you are enrolled in the class (MUSC 142M-01).
**If you are not a Sac State student: See Dan Truitt for a gold form. Fill this form
out and take it to Lassen Hall with your payment.
EARLY MOVE-INS (DORMS)
Early move-ins will be available for students living in the dorms for the 2016-2017
SY. Forms will be available online starting in August. The fee is approximately
$33.00 per day (subject to change). For more information, contact Housing and
