Maine Winter Sports Center reasserts commitment to
making skiing accessible to everyone in Maine
Ski Again Pass With Access To Five Ski Areas Only $150 for the season

Caribou, Maine – The Maine Winter Sports Center announced its Ski Again Pass today,
giving you unlimited skiing at all MWSC facilities for only $150 for the season. This
unique season pass gives holders access to five downhill and nordic areas across Maine,
with no blackout dates. “The Maine Winter Sports Center has been dedicated to making
skiing accessible to everyone since our inception in 1999,” said Andy Shepard, President
and CEO of the MWSC. “I believe this Ski Again Pass and our $15 day ticket, are
another significant step in that direction.”
Included in the pass are historic Black Mountain in Rumford, Maine’s fifth tallest alpine
ski area, Bigrock Mountain in Mars Hill, the tallest vertical in northern Maine and the
Maritimes, and Pineland Farms Nordic Center in New Gloucester, one of the top
nordic ski centers in the eastern United States and centrally located between Portland and
Lewiston/Auburn.
The pass also includes the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle and the 10th
Mountain Center in Fort Kent, which continue to offer world-class nordic skiing free to
the public, year-round. The Nordic Heritage and 10th Mountain Centers are considered
among the top nordic venues in the world and entertained 140 million TV viewers in
Europe when they hosted Biathlon World Cups in 2004 and 2011.
Maine is blessed with four seasons, including our long and cold winters. The Ski Again
pass is intended to encourage Mainers to embrace our winter heritage and either get back
to skiing, or take it up for the first time, at one of our areas.

place to ski, surrounded by people who treat them like family,” said Shepard. “We have
friendly staff, no lift lines, and have made significant investments in ensuring an onmountain skiing experience that guarantees challenges for all abilities,” said Shepard.
At Black Mountain we have installed a new snowmaking system this fall and purchased
new high-efficiency guns as well. At Bigrock Mountain, which enjoys Aroostook
County’s famous snowpack, we have redesigned our lodge to include increased seating,

The Ski Again Pass gives you unlimited skiing at:
• Black Mountain in Rumford The mountain features 30 trails, beginner to expert;
a brand new snowmaking system; a new family-friendly day-lodge with a café,
pub, two museums, two fireplaces, and four paved parking lots. Black Mountain is
also the 5th tallest ski area in Maine with 1,150 feet of vertical and is less than two
hours from Portland.
• Bigrock Mountain in Mars Hill The Mountain has the highest vertical of any ski
area in northern Maine and Canadian Maritimes, and features a new “GO BIG”
Terrain Park with 20 elements. The Mountain also offers 35 trails, beginner to
expert, home-style meals cooked on-site in the Café and our new Pub. Bigrock
Mountain is an easy two hours from Bangor and less than two hours from
Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
• Pineland Farms Nordic Center Pineland Farm has been an epicenter of
recreational cross-country skiing, training and racing for some of America’s top
skiers since it opened in 2002. With a John Morton Designs network of trails,
traversing over 35 kilometers through rolling farmland and hardwood forests and
with many views of Mount Washington looming to the west, Pineland Farms
offers something for every ability. Don’t forget to stop by the Market for
outstanding sandwiches, soups, or other Maine-made treats, or to take home some
award-winning Pineland Farms Cheese or Pineland Farms Natural Meats.
• 10th Mountain Ski Center Located in the village of Fort Kent, and the gateway to
the northern Forest, the 10th Mountain Center has hosted a number of international
events including a world championships in 2005, Biathlon World Cups in 2004
and 2011, North American Biathlon Championships, as well as countless national
and regional championships. The center is known for its early snow, night skiing,
sauna and showers, fireplace and is free to the public year-round.
• Nordic Heritage Ski Center Located on a mountain overlooking central
Aroostook County, the Nordic Heritage Center boasts and outstanding trail system
– cruiser runs for the cross country skiers and single track for mountain bikers in
the green season and snowshoers in the winter. The center also offers night skiing,
showers, sauna, a fireplace and a museum that tells the story of the early Swedish
settlers who brought skiing to the region in the 1870’s. The Nordic Heritage Center
is free to the public, year-round.
