Holi Event Highlights
Holi - A Festival of Color:
• Holi in Gujarat is a festival that celebrates the vibrant spirit of the Gujarati people.
• Holi is a festival of color and happiness. On this day, it is a custom to resolve all differences
with everybody, including your enemies.
• “Dhuleti” is reserved for playing colors. Young boys and girls form small groups called “Tolis”
and roam about in search of people who are still left to be smeared.

Navratri Event Highlights
Navratri - A Festival of Dance:
• Navratri, meaning “nine nights,” is one of the most popular and widely
celebrated Hindu festivals in India.
• Gujarat, however, is the only state that erupts into a nine-night dance
festival, perhaps the longest in the world.
• Each night, all over the state, people in traditional dress gather in open
spaces play ras garb using dandiya (which uses small wooden sticks).
• People begin to dance in a circle, whirling away late into the night.
• The traditional dance steps are simple, though over the years people have
been inventing more complex steps.

Diwali Event Highlights
Diwali – A Festival of Light:
• Diwali is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India.
• Diwali is a festival of joy, prosperity, and good luck, and a celebration of the victory of
good over evil.
• All over India, homes are decorated with lights and earthenware lamps filled with oil.
These lamps are called diyas. The name 'Diwali' is from the Sanskrit. 'Dipavali', which
means 'row of lamps'. Diyas are lit in every house to banish the dark and welcome in good
luck and good fortune.
