REMOTELY RUGGED AND UNSPOILED, the Canadian
Maritime provinces occupy the easternmost portion of North
America. The beauty and lure of the sea is always close at hand
here. Stunning coastal scenery, picturesque centuries-old villages,
world-class historic sites, and a wealth of attractions have turned
these provinces into one of Canada’s top vacation spots. Original
settlers in Nova Scotia were of Scottish origin, and the landscape
and villages of the area take on a true mix of New England meets
the Highlands.
With the Bandon Dunes-like development of Cabot Links in 2012
and launch of Cabot Cliffs in 2015, renewed enthusiasm and
attention has been focused on the Maritimes as a golf destination.
Locals will say it has always boasted some of North America’s
best courses like Highlands Links and Crowbush Cove and even
relatively recent course launches like Fox Harb’r have always been
must plays. Then again, Canadians are quite fond of their modesty,
and are likely as content to have gone unnoticed for this long.
For those interested in more than golf, we have designed informative
tours that meet the interests of discerning travelers. We’ll sample
local seafood and wines, explore flora and fauna of Cape Breton
Island and look for whales in the Bay of Fundy, while discovering
the character and charm of wonderful Victorian villages.
There may be no better way to golf and tour these remote provinces,
particularly without the hassles of packing and unpacking, and
no vessel better suited than our host, Silver Explorer. The stylish
comfort and attentive service of our Silversea hosts, creates an
intimate cruising experience. As our privately chartered yacht glides
along these rocky coasts, we will be treated to the high standards of
Silversea service, dining and amenities.

GolF: Fox HArB’r
on a peninsula between pugwash and tatamagouche in the north of Nova Scotia,
fox Harb’r opened for play in 2001 to immediate acclaim. designed by canadian
graham cooke, the course is essentially two distinct loops of nine holes. the
outward nine is parkland, played away from the shore to sheltered woodland,
wetland and lakes, while the back nine is links-like, with many holes played
above the steep rocky shore of the Northumberland Strait. fox Harb’r promises a
fitting and well-balanced representation of Maritimes golf.
ToUr: JoST viNeYArD AND BoTANiCAl ToUr
touring guests will visit Jost vineyard, the oldest operating winery in Nova
Scotia, followed by lunch at the local landmark tatamagouche train station. upon
return to fox Harb’r, guests learn the skills of flower arrangement and enjoy a
botanical tour of the resort’s wonderful gardens. this evening, we all gather for a
lobster boil dinner.

septeMber 21: WallaCe • st. JoHn’s, neWfoundland
we fly to St. John’s, Newfoundland and have time to explore this remote
provincial capital on the eastern-most tip of North america. St. John’s has been
one of the world’s leading suppliers of salt cod since the early 17th century, and
its heritage as a fishing village is evident throughout. our city tour includes
the bustling harbor area, home to shops and restaurants, and we also venture to
Signal Hill to get commanding views of the rugged beauty of the North atlantic,
and of the harbor where Silver Explorer awaits our embarkation.
.......
septeMber 22: saint pierre island, franCe
we stop for a half day on Saint pierre island. under french rule since the 17th
century, this quaint island village is a little piece of france in North america. we
will walk to town from the ship and visit l’arche Museum, which covers the
island’s history, including the role it played during prohibition, and we will see
the only working guillotine in North america. don’t forget your euros!

Cabot Links
GolF: HiGHlANDS liNKS
located on the very tip of cape breton Highlands National park, Highlands links was designed by Stanley
thompson in 1939. the course starts on an isthmus with steep cliffs that roll down to the atlantic ocean.
with holes that run over wild, tumbling land, and play along the base of majestic mountains, there is a flow
and a uniqueness of layout that make the course one of the most striking in canada. thompson preached that
“nature must always be the architect,” and no truer statement can be made about Highlands links.
ToUr: CABoT TrAil
today we tour the eastern portion of cape breton Highlands National park and the cabot trail, following
the atlantic coast to the fishing community of Neil’s Harbour, where we learn about lobster fishing. from
here, we head inland through the sunrise valley and to the community of pleasant bay for lunch at a local
restaurant. after lunch, we visit the whale interpretive centre, dedicated to whale preservation, good
preparation for our day of whale watching later in our journey.
.......
septeMber 24: inVerness, noVa sCotia
GolF: CABoT liNKS
Mike keiser, of bandon dunes fame, opened cabot links to instant acclaim in 2012. the unique quality of
the site with its firm, sandy soil drew keiser to New Scotland (Nova Scotia), and given the topography, it is
not surprising to know that cape breton island and Scotland were once physically attached in their formative
years. as with bandon dunes, the remote location and pristine surroundings have earned cabot the sense that
it is indeed special. we will disembark near the 6th hole and make a short ten-minute trip to the clubhouse to
play this seaside masterpiece.
ToUr: THe MArGAree vAlleY AND AlexANDer GrAHAM Bell MeMoriAl
we travel through one of the most picturesque valleys in the Maritime provinces, the Margaree valley.
idyllic fall foliage serves an immaculate backdrop to small farms and fields crisscrossed by pristine streams
and rivers – some of the finest atlantic salmon angling rivers in eastern canada. we then visit the gaelic
college of St. ann, learning of the connection between the clans of the Scottish Highlands and the first
settlers of Nova Scotia. after lunch, we tour the alexander graham bell National Historic Site.
.......
septeMber 25: inVerness, noVa sCotia
GolF: CABoT CliFFS
cabot cliffs is one of the most anticipated new courses of 2015, and for good reason. bill coore and ben
crenshaw brought elements from courses around the world to this wonderful site along the gulf of St.
lawrence. eight holes run along the coast, sitting dramatically high on cliffs, fairways and greens impossibly
perched on rocky bluffs, making for dramatic views and demanding a steady stroke. Some of these holes
remind us of pebble beach, old Head and turnberry, but the course has a personality all its own. it will be a
delight to be among the first to have played here in its first full year of operation.
ToUr: WHAle WATCHiNG
touring passengers enjoy some whale watching aboard Silver Explorer. depending on conditions, we will
take zodiacs out in search of migrating herds of whales that populate the gulf of St. lawrence: right whales,
beluga, sperm, blue and killer whales, among others.

Crowbush Cove
.......
septeMber 26: CHarlottetoWn, prinCe edWard island
GolF: CroWBUSH Cove
designed by tom Mcbroom, a prolific canadian course designer,
crowbush cove is the centerpiece of golf on prince edward island. the
early holes wander calmly through a coniferous forest, but starting with
the 8th hole, we see more links influence as the course plays close to the
ocean, making the most of a series of dunes between holes 14 and 17.
crowbush cove gained notoriety when it hosted a skins game between
Mike weir, fred couples, John daly and Mark o’Meara in 1998, and
this wonderfully manicured gem has been a staple of Maritimes golf
ever since.
ToUr: ANNe oF GreeN GABleS AND CHArloTTeToWN
we visit green gables National Historic Site, the setting for the famous
novel “anne of green gables.” enjoy walking in the Haunted woods
and down lover’s lane before we lunch in a local eatery. afterwards,
we tour the highlights of charlottetown, the capital city of prince
edward island.
.......
septeMber 27: daY at sea
Sit back and relax as we cruise from prince edward island and around
Nova Scotia. we head south through the Straight of canso that separates
cape breton from the western part of Nova Scotia. today will be a fine
day to enjoy the comforts of Silver Explorer after a few days of golf.
.......
septeMber 28: st. JoHn, neW brunsWiCK
this morning we make our way north into the bay of fundy. be on
the lookout for whales as we make our approach to St. John, New
brunswick, the oldest incorporated city in canada. we disembark and
witness a unique natural spectacle – reversing tides. the bay of fundy
features the world’s highest tides, and the difference between low and
high tide is so severe, that the tidal ebbs and peaks create a unique
phenomenon called reversing tides. the interaction between rivers that
flow into the bay and the bay itself when the bodies of water meet
is quite a sight – magnificent boiling whirlpools, like the crashing of
a waterfall, without the height. we also tour St. John and the idyllic
victorian sea village of St. Martin.

GolF: AlGoNQUiN GolF reSorT
originally constructed in 1894,
algonquin boasts canada’s oldest
clubhouse. Set on the shores of
passamaquoddy bay, the scenery
and vistas are breathtaking. over
the years, the course has undergone
multiple renovations, upgrades and
routing changes, first in 1920 based
on the designs of donald ross, and
most recently in 2000 by thomas
Mcbroom. today, the course takes full
advantage of its oceanfront locale with
an unforgettable set of holes that run
down to the bay, overlooking a channel
that separates canada from the united
States. algonquin is a fitting close to our
journey through the Maritimes.
ToUr: ST. ANDreWS AND ST. STepHeN
touring passengers enjoy two quaint
colonial towns today. we start in St.
Stephen, a border crossing town with
neighboring Maine and nicknamed
canada’s chocolate town, home of the
chocolate Museum, which we will visit.
as we return to St. andrews, we tour
kingsbrea gardens and enjoy lunch in
the garden cafe. our afternoon is spent
walking St. andrews as we make our
way to the iconic algonquin Hotel.

sits along the kennebunk river. a traditional course in

bush. the course record of 60 is held by phil Mickelson.

GOLF’S FINEST TR AVEL EXPERIENCE
The truth about great international golf courses is that they are
typically in close proximity to fascinating cultural and historic
venues; particularly so when we travel by ship, making our trips
ideal for couples in which one spouse is a passionate golfer, and
one may rather tour. We dedicate as much purpose to planning
and executing our touring programs as we do our golf line-up;
no other golf tour operator can make this promise.
We know our clients demand stimulating experiences beyond
golf and strive to present our guests with a rich blend of choices
between golf and touring each day. Even the heartiest golfers
among our guests often remark, “it was tough to decide today
between the tour and the links.”
Each day, touring passengers will have the option to experience
fascinating cultural and historic tours. On some days, golfers and
tour guests will spend the day touring together and on others,
they will get together for a private tour after playing golf.
We challenge you to find a touring program with any other luxury
golf tour operator that is as robust, inclusive and exclusive as you
will find on a Kalos Golf tour.
