End-of-Year Activities: It is tradition at Hansberry College Prep that students participate in an end-of-year
activity as an appreciation for their hard work throughout the year. This year’s activities are as follows:
 9th grade— Camping (June 8-9th)
 10th grade— College Visits (June 10th)
 11th graders (with 2 points growth from post-PLAN to post-ACT) - Cedar Point (June 10th)
Transportation, meals, and admission to Cedar Point will be provided by Hansberry. Students will need to provide
their own spending money. Students with more than 36 detentions, those who are failing more than two classes,
and those who are slated to repeat their current grade are not eligible to participate in these activities. 9th
graders who are
eligible for the camping trip received a permission slip with last week’s newsletter. More
information about Cedar Point and the college visits is forthcoming. 9th & 10th graders will receive their testing
rewards within the first two weeks of the 2015-2016 school year.
Community Service and Enrichment: The deadline
to submit all paperwork for community service and
enrichment is June 5, 2015. Any student that does not
meet the requirements below must take a summer
class at $70 for community service and $25 for
enrichment. Keep in mind that community service
hours documentation forms are due within 7 days of
the completed service.
 9th Graders: 10 community service hours & .25
enrichment credits
 10th Graders: 20 community service hours & .5
enrichment credits
 11th graders: 30 community service hours & .75
enrichment credits
Textbook Return: As we get closer to the end of the
year, your student will be asked to return their textbooks. Please ensure your student will be ready to return their books when asked. Failure to return books
will result in your student being charged for the book.
Summer Enrichment: There are three opportunities
attached to this newsletter to complete enrichment over
the summer: Code World, Music Fundamentals, and a
combination of the Monday-Thursday workshops. Please
contact Sarah or Dominique directly to register. Their contact information is on the flyer.
Student Fees: Invoices have been sent home. If there
are any discrepancies and you need to contest a charge,
please bring a copy of your receipt to Ms. Ayala
[email protected]). Payments are accepted in cash,
credit/debit or money order. For your convenience, credit
and debit payments can be taken over the phone. Please
call the main office at 773-729-3400 to make a payment
over the phone.
Community Service Opportunity: The annual American
Diabetes Association Tour de Cure bike event is coming up
on June 14th at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora.
