NEW SLEEPING BAGS ENSURE COMFORT FOR ROBENS® FAMILY ADVENTURERS Danish tent manufacturer, Robens®, has introduced a range of two superb sleeping bags that interact perfectly with its Outback and Adventure tents. The Killarney range is made to echo the home comforts expected by leisure campers who appreciate the relaxed hood, rectangular shape and the ability to open up duvet-style, while maintaining the performance levels expected by outdoor adventurers from a technical brand known for producing great value, high quality equipment. The Killarney range comprises two models: the Killarney Down (pictured left) and Killarney (pictured below right). Both are perfect for all types of leisure user with features including a large Thermocollar for warmth; full-length insulated baffle and anti-snag guard over the YKK zip; hood drawcords; and inside pocket. Two Killarney bags can be zipped together to make a double. To ensure equal fill across the sleeping bag the Killarney Down uses a vertical box wall construction to hold the 700g of 80/20 duck down mix between the soft, down proof polyester pongee outer and Micro Cotton inner. The Killarney uses a single layer of high loft mix of hollow fibre insulation that performs well when damp. The synthetic fill is also appreciated by those who may be allergic to down and its hydrophobic properties make it easier to keep clean. Both sleeping bags have hanger loops for storage in optimum conditions and a mesh storage sack for when hanging space is at a premium. A cap compression sack keeps bulk down when in the field. A sleeping bag containing a manikin is placed inside a temperature-controlled climate chamber and tested in accordance with a prescribed procedure to determine the thermal insulation properties of the bag. Recommended temperature limits are based on the insulation properties measured and on knowledge of how the human body reacts to thermal conditions during sleep. On each of our sleeping bags we quote the recommended temperature ratings for the following: Tcomfort – lower comfort limit in standard use (woman) Tlimit – lower limit when curled up in standard use (man) Textreme – lowest extreme temperature for survival (woman) Tmax – upper comfort limit without over heating (man) The Killarney Down has a Tcomfort rating of 0°C, Tlimit -6°C, Textreme -24°C and Tmax 21°C The Killarney has a Tcomfort rating of 3°C, Tlimit -3°C, Textreme -19°C and Tmax 22°C.
