The Minority Scholars Program provides minority medical students with the opportunity to augment their education, training,
and networking by attending educational and scientific programming at the 66th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.

Selection Statement
“Our award recipients represent varied backgrounds and interests but shared one important attribute, an intense, demonstrated interest
in neuroscience and clinical neurology. The experience at the 2013 Annual Meeting will serve to strengthen understanding of the breadth
and depth of clinical neurology and neuroscience.”
Presentation
Recipients will receive a certificate of recognition and be acknowledged during the AAN and American Brain Foundation Awards Luncheon
at the Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
Recipients Will Receive
–– Airfare and lodging for up to four nights during the 66th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA
–– Complimentary registration for the 66th Annual Meeting
–– Complimentary attendance to four educational programs of their choosing
–– Opportunity to participate in the Medical Student rush line with fees waived for certain programs and the lower Junior Member rate
to attend additional fee-based educational programs
Eligibility
–– Medical Students from underrepresented and underserved populations in good standing at a US medical school. Preference is given to
second-and third-year students. Traditionally underrepresented groups in neurology include, but are not limited to, African American/Black,
American Indian, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino from other groups historically underrepresented in the medical profession.
Application Procedure
Applications should submit one complete set of the following online:
1. A single-spaced, one-page essay detailing the applicant’s interest in a career in neurology, academic achievements, community involvement,
and plans to maximize the Annual Meeting opportunity
2. A letter of recommendation from a neurology professor
3. Current curriculum vitae
