SCHOOL REPORT
As you know, we have had a busy
couple of weeks and it is hard to
believe that we are already half way
through the term, which means
Christmas is approaching very
quickly! The students are all working
hard in class, and practise for our
end of year concert is well
underway. I’m not sure if it is
possible, but I think we are going to
try and beat last year’s concert as
the best ever! Luckily, the next
couple of weeks are relatively quiet
so that we can focus on our
classroom programs and getting
stuck into some assessment.

Dear Parents and Community
Remembrance Day
On the 11th of November, we
remembered all those who gave
their lives during war and conflict
with a short ceremony under the
flagpole. The flag was flown at halfmast while we observed a minute
silence, before singing the National
Anthem while it rose to its peak.
Heidi came forward to recite the
poem, “In Flanders Fields”, and then
Abby delivered a version of the
poem, “For the Fallen”.
Student Elections
The Year 5 students have been
working hard, both at school and at
home on preparing for their election
speeches this week. The speeches
will be held in the Library this
Thursday, before staff and students
privately vote for who they believe
should take on the role of Head
School Leader in 2016. It is great to
see that all four students are willing
to give it a go. Good luck to Sophie,
Abby, Jake and Nathan.
Book Fair
Thank-you to all those parents and
community members who supported
our Book Fair last week. A heap of
books were sold and I think that
there will be lots of happy readers
over the holidays, which is fantastic.
Thanks also to parents for
organising their child’s book awards
so promptly.
Assembly
Thank you to all those who were
able to attend our last official
Assembly and P&C Meeting during
this busy time of year. It was great
to see the fantastic effort all the
children are putting in with their
schoolwork and I enjoyed watching
them perform. Thank you again to
our three wonderful School Leaders,
Chloe, Jake and Chelsea who have
successfully organised and run
each Assembly throughout the year
– you have done an amazing job
and we appreciate your dedication.
Regards

Christmas Holiday Trivia
The word Christmas is Old English, a contraction of Christ's Mass.
The first president to decorate the white house Christmas tree in the United States was Franklin Pierce.
Germany made the first artificial Christmas trees. They were made of goose feathers and dyed green.
Electric lights for trees were first used in 1895.
The first Christmas cards were vintage and invented in 1843, the Victorian Era.
"It's a Wonderful Life" appears on TV more often than any other holiday movie.
Rudolph" was actually created by Montgomery Ward in the late 1930's for a holiday promotion. The rest is history.
The Nutcracker" is the most famous Christmas ballet.
Jingle Bells" was first written for Thanksgiving and then became one of the most popular Christmas songs.
If you received all of the gifts in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," you would receive 364 gifts.

Clearing up a common misconception, in Greek, X means Christ. That is where the “X-Mas” comes from. Not because
someone took the “Christ” out of Christmas
