Lacdigest 2250 U chewing tablet, 50 tablets
COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains 2250 units of tilactase (lactase).
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES: ß-D-galactosidase (Lactase) obtained from aspergillus orizae
is an enzyme naturally present in human body and produced from enterocytes at the brush
borders of intestines. Its function is to break down lactose into reabsorbable monosaccharide
components glucose and galactose.
INDICATIONS: LACDIGEST® helps digest lactose (milk sugar) obtained through milk and milk
products in people with lactase deficiency.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Should not be administered in patients allergic to lactase or any excipients
of LACDIGEST®.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS: Please consult your doctor when intestinal disorders occur and
persist during treatment.
SIDE EFFECTS / ADVERSE EFFECTS: LACDIGEST® drug substance tilactase (lactase) is a material
active only in intestines and does not pass to bloodstream. Therefore, undesired effects locally
occur in intestines or they are the results of hypersensitivity developed against the active substance
or any of the excipients. In such cases, discontinuation of the therapy may be considered. Severe
allergic reactions such as rash, urticaria, uneasy breathing, asthma, and swelling on mouth, face
and lips may rarely seen.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: The effect of LACDIGEST® can change when used with drugs containing
sodium, potassium, calcium, or copper.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: LACDIGEST® may be chewed or swallowed as a whole
immediately before eating or drinking food containing lactose (milk sugar). 1 tablet per 5 g lactose
(equivalent up to 100 mL milk) should be used. If symptoms of discomfort continues, the dose can
be increased. It should not be administered more than 6 tablets at one time or more than 12 tablets daily. Adult dose can be used in elders, and children over 3.
