Freeman This book is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. • The Anorexia Workbook Heffner and Eifert This step-by-step self help book is based on a compassionate new model of psychotherapy called acceptance and commitment therapy. • Anorexics on Anorexia R. Shelley Recovering sufferers of Anorexia Nervosa describe in their own words their personal experiences. • The Invisible Man J. Morgan A practical, problem-focused self-help manual for men with eating disorders and body image problems. 2 Bulimia Nervosa • Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating: A Guide to Recovery P.J. Cooper This book uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to treat disorders by changing unhelpful patterns of behaviours and thoughts. • Overcoming Binge Eating C.J. Fairburn This book provides all the information needed to understand binge eating and bring it under control. • Getting Better Bit(e) by Bite(e): a survival kit for sufferers of bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder U.H. Schmidt and J.L. Treasure This self help book empowers sufferers to take control of their lives by providing them with the information and advice needed to tackle their eating difficulties. Self Esteem • Feeling Good Handbook D. Burns Includes chapters: How to conquer depression and build self esteem. How to conquer anxieties, fears and phobias, and how to strengthen relationships through better communication. • Overcoming Low Self Esteem M. Fennel This book explains the nature of low self-esteem and self destructive thinking. It contains a complete self-help programme and monitoring sheets. It is based on clinically proven techniques of cognitive therapy. • Reinventing Your Life: How to Break Free from Negative Life Patterns and Feel Good Again Young and Klosko This book is very helpful for people with long-standing eating disorders and includes the following chapters: I’m worthless; The defectiveness life trap; I feel like such a failure; It’s never quite good enough.
