Spanish Project- Spring Semester

Spanish Project- Spring Semester- OPTIONS
1. Chapter 5A/5B- Family Tree- You may choose between a poster project and a video
project.
- For the poster project, you will create a display that shows and describes at least 10 of
your family members, with at least 3 generations & present it to the class. Minimum
size is 1 sheet of posterboard. ALL information on your poster must be either in typed
form or very neatly written. Include a paragraph with a written description of each
family member using complete sentences. Tell about each person’s relationship to you,
how old they are (some you may have to guess), & something about them – what they
are like, what they look like, or what they like to do. This should include a minimum of
25 vocabulary words. The poster must include a title in Spanish (see below for some
ideas).
- For the video project, you will create a video version of your family tree where you will
introduce us to at least 10 members of your family, with at least 3 generations. You
must speak in complete sentences and include information about each person’s
relationship to you, how old they are (you may have to guess), & something about
them- what they are like, what they look like, or what they like to do. The video should
be turned in with an exact script of what was said on the video, typed or very neatly
written, and should include a minimum of 25 vocabulary words. The video must
include a title in Spanish. (“Los Appleby” or “La familia Appleby” or “Mi familia” or “Mi
Arbol Familiar”… etc.)
2. Chapter 6A/6B- Home & Chores- You may choose between a poster project & a video
project.
- For the poster project, you will create a house plan of either your real house (Mi casa) or
your dream home (La casa de mis sueños). You must label each floor, all rooms and
furniture in Spanish (words we have learned in the chapters we have studied),
including a minimum of 25 vocabulary words. You can use magazine cutouts or
drawings to furnish the house. Creativity and quality of work will count! Below the
house plan, you will write a paragraph of at least 10 complete sentences in Spanish
describing your house. This can be typed or written very neatly.
- For the video option, you will take us on a tour of your home (or your dream home).
You must include multiple floors, rooms & furniture, including a minimum of 25
vocabulary words. You can include what chores/activities are done in different rooms.
Your video must include a title in Spanish and should be turned in with an exact script
of what was said on the video, typed or very neatly written.
3.
Chapter 7A/7B- Shopping- You may choose between a written project and a video project.
- For the written project, you will create a multi-page “catalog” advertising for a local mall that
has many different types of stores. There should be a page for each different type of store that
we’ve learned, with pictures of items that they sell (labeled in Spanish), with prices marked in
Spanish. Your catalog should include a minimum of 5 pages (stores) and 25 vocabulary words.
All written information in your catalog should be typed or very neatly written. You will present
your catalog to the class, and you should turn in a written copy of what you say during your
presentation. Don’t forget to give your “mall“ a name in Spanish.
- For the video project, you will create a fashion show including a minimum of 5 outfits (some
male/ some female). Each outfit should be described in detail, including colors and price, and
use a minimum of 25 vocabulary words (colors do not count, but prices do). You may include
types of stores where your fashion show items are sold. Your video must be turned in with an
exact script of what was said on the video, typed or very neatly written.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:
You may not use any translator of any kind. You are required to use Spanish that we have learned in class. If you use
“translator” Spanish at all, you will receive a zero on the language portion of the project.
Neatness and creativity are essential to a good grade on this project. If you don’t have neat handwriting, you should
type or use other kinds of letters. If you produce a boring video, your grade will reflect that.
If you choose the video option, it should be YOUR voice doing the speaking. Your video may be turned in by email
including a link to a YouTube video, on a flash drive, or on a DVD. Technical difficulties do arise sometimes, so do not
wait until the last minute. Technical difficulties will not be an excuse to turn in the video late. Be sure your video
works before you turn it in. If your video doesn’t work, you will not receive points for speaking, creativity, or following
directions.
You will lose 10 points per day if your project is not turned in on time.
