EDITOR - JOE PIKULA Sep/Oct 2010 NEWSLETTER YORKTOWN LODGE # 2324 MID HUDSON DISTRICT # 6180 EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE Members All: Hopefully you have all had a healthy and enjoyable summer. Once again our golf outing was a huge success. Many thanks to our Chairmen, Mike Littleton and Dave Yazzetti and all the volunteers. A great time was had by all. On August 16th, I attended the first DD Clinic of the 2010 – 2011 Elk year. Several district Chairmen mentioned Yorktown Lodge as examples of a job well done. The work done by our Chairmen and volunteers is what makes Elkdom the incredible organization that it is. As E.R. of our lodge I could not be prouder. At our August 18th regular meeting Joe Pikula gave a stellar Bingo report. More important than the excellent financials was the list he read of extensive volunteers. This degree of volunteerism, and unified effort is what Elkdom is all about. Keep up the good work. Our 300 club drawing is going to be held Sunday October 24th at 1:00 PM. See me for tickets and please make an effort to participate. Thanks again for all of your hard work. See you at the lodge. GER James Nicholson, thanked her for her efforts in his letter of June 28, 2010 The Artie Hartel Memorial Golf Outing The annual golf outing was held on Friday, August 13th at The Beekman Country Club. We had a very nice day and the weather was perfect. Thanks to our Elk members and friends, we had 21 foursomes. This was a terrific turnout and we moved nicely on the course. We played a scramble format and we had two foursomes that tied for first place. Tony Masi, George Mann, Dominick Sciali and Bill Harbison’s foursome shot an impressive 10 under par as well as Bob Froats, Val Farda, Chuck Cartelli and Mark Fanning’s foursome. Bob Froats had the longest drive. Bob Marizzo, Anthony Venditti and Patrick Murphy won the closest to the pin on the par 3’s. Congratulations to these winners. Watch out for next year’s outing, The D’Andrea brothers are looking to take first place. They shot 8 under par lead by Tommy D’Andrea, a star on the Yorktown High School golf team. A special thank you goes out to Rich D’Andrea of Park Ford in Mahopac for providing the car and other prizes for the hole in one contest. We also have to thank Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Company for providing the gift bags and other prizes. We have several members that really do a great job of volunteering but Anthony Venditti takes it to the next level. Anthony puts in a lot of time, effort and dedication to our lodge and the golf outing. We cannot thank him enough for all his hard work and support. We had many Elk members and friends that collected hole sponsors and prizes. Dave Yazzetti, Joe Pikula, Mike Littleton, Anthony Venditti, Rich D’Silva, and Tom Pavletich collected several sponsors. We want to thank everyone that provided sponsors. The money raised will go to Cerebral Palsy, Youth Activities, Scholarships, Special Olympics, Hoop Shoot and other Elk events. We also had many volunteers that helped out on the course and at the lodge. These volunteers were: Bill O’Reilly, Jack McCarthy, Joe Pikula, Chris Littleton, Charlie Scheld, Mike Adamovich, Wayne Gorski, Paul Egan and our Italian connection: Rich D’Andrea, Tommy D’Andrea, Rich D’Silva, Anthony Venditti, Bob Falco, Dom Simione, Sam Visconti, Ted Galgano, Skip Saliano, Fred Versaci, Mike Magnani, Andy Tumolo and Tony Grasso. We could not have done it without you and thank you for your support. Please read the list of sponsors who contributed to this years outing. A special way to thank the sponsors is to use the services they provide. Thank you again for making this years outing a huge success.
