It’s part of The North End Women's Centre. Colleen and Corinne are volunteers there working on a new placement. It’s a sales position where they will be sorting and pricing clothing and other thrift store items. They will be receiving training from Sheila and Corine on how to use the steamer and to learn the layout of the store. They will be practicing customer service skills and how to maintain a positive attitude. Both Colleen and Corinne are very excited about their new opportunity and look forward to working independently. Our very own Editor-in-Chief, Alvin Pyy spends many of his work days in the cafeteria manning the coffee station. Sample sizes are available to try on. A flyer was recently distributed. This shows all the different colour choices for each garment. Lots of exciting things are happening in the cafeteria. As we are all aware food allergies can be a concern whenever you have a large group of people get together and they are certainly a concern for those who eat lunch at ImagineAbility. We have people who are gluten intolerant and people who are allergic to specific foods. Quite often when a meal contains gluten, Phyllis and her crew will prepare an alternative version of the same meal that is gluten free. If you have any food allergies or intolerances, you might want to let Phyllis know. That way we can all work together to provide a safe and delicious eating experience! Alvin Pyy & Judy Carlson This will be the last opportunity to order ImagineAbility wearables this year. FUN FACTS FOR HALLOWEEN Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on Halloween . Pumpkins also come in white, blue and green. Great for making unique monster carvings! Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell fortunes. Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America.
