3 countries skitrekking -‐ 3 country corner – kilpisjärvi 10 days/9 nights. finland-‐sweden-‐norway. this skiing tour with huskies and pulka is a round tour around treriksröset, the highest 3 country border corner of the world. the ”three-‐country border point”, a monument at the border point of finland, sweden and norway, located in finland’s northern ”arm”. near the northwesternmost point of finland, in kilpisjärvi the most northern commune of finland. ski – partly with a pulka and your own husky through all the three countries finland, sweden and norway. during this husky skitrekking we have some huskies and pulkas with us to bring our luggage along the trail. during this roundtrip from kilpisjärvi you oPen drive your own pulka/husky team. parts of the route follows the well known northkaloQleden. but most of the route is besides official tracks. overnights we spend in norwegian and swedish mountain huts. price: sek 16´900/person Date: 27th of march Tll 5th of april 2017 spirit, cooperaTon • endurance, will to live in simple condiTons • skis with fish scale/metal rails requested • lots of the personal luggage will be pulled by a small sled dog team and the huskies in front of the pulkas (max. 7 kg are allowed to put into the sled/pulka, if we have more, we carry it in our day bag along with the lunch package, thermos and warm jacket for our breaks). overnights in simple cabins, partly with sauna and partly with very simple possibiliTes for washing. every group member brings her/his own sleeping bag. • the tourguide will drive the small dogteam and is maybe not with skis, you really need to know ski handling yourself. the guide will be closer or further away of the group, depending on visibility and other security aspects • we reserve us the right to changes minibus to kilpisjärvi. check in the holiday coQages tundrea. during the dinner we get to know each other and the guide during we hear a lot of important informaTon about the coming tour. 2nd day: kilpisjärvi-‐gålda (about 18 km and +100 m upphill) across the big lake named like the village kilpisjärvi we head out direcTon treriksröset (3 country border point). aPer about 15 km skiing on the lake we reach the famous point, where the 3 countries finland, sweden and norway meet. some last 2-‐3 km in tundra forest are to ski unTl we reach the norwegian hut gålda, which is situated sTll nicely protected in the tundra forest. 3rd day: gålda-‐gappo (about 11 km, +200m -‐0m) from the coQage we head out towards the valley marktop ”parras” before we start to ski along one of the few norwegian officially marked trail up the hill southwards towards gappopeak. through the beauTful hillside of gappo and sTll slightly upphill we reach aPer a short while the beauTful situated coQages of gappo, with great view to the main peak of pältsa. 4th day: gappo-‐rosta (about 18 km, +300m – 550m) today we will enjoy the beauty of high mountain sceneries. along the northkaloQleden trail we climb up to the well known valley ”isdalen” (icevalley). between the hanging glaciers we ski all along this very beauTful valley, before we start to ski downhill into the rostavalley, reaching the norwegian hut rosta. the hut is as well located straight on the forest border. in the highest end of the beautyful valley rostadalen. 5th day: rosta-‐daerta (about 18km, +600m -‐300m) further more or less along the northkaloQleden we ski high up to the highest point of this tour, with about 1100 m above sealevel. the climb is in the beginning steep but later on more gentle. across the mountains we enjoy a great skiing day, unmarked and really remote with great views back to the huge rostavalley – a very important aera for reindeerherding. the downhill towards the norwegian hut daerta will be enjoyable. daerta is located in a very open and someTmes windy aera, above treelevel. 6th day: daerta-‐pältsa (about 30 km, almost flat) we prepare ourselves for a long skiing day. no marked trails for today neither. aPer leaving the coQage we first cross the small lakes harvvesjavri along the daertavalley before we reach the huge lake system of råstojaure, the heart of the earlier several Tmes menTonned rostavalley. here we start heading out back north, through the main valley of the river rosta, are having lunch by a cosy small hut from the norwegian forestry and conTnue further unTl we reach a marked trail, just south of the coQages pältsa, where we will spend our next night. we are looking forward to a refreshing sauna! 7th day: free day – for individual daytrips (we might take the free day whenever it is most suitable for that certain week, depending on weather, group and more and if the group is small, we will split the day daerta-‐ pältsa in two days – skip the resTng day and stay overnight in the the above menTonned small and cosy overnight place) 8th day: pältsa – gålda (17km, +350m – 550m) we will take advantage of a marked trail again, which is as well a part of the northkaloQleden. we climb first upp the hill behind the coQages. further on a sTll hilly but beauTful part is waiTng for us before starTng the descend towards the three country border again. from here we follow our track from the first day back to the coQages of gålda. 9th day: gålda – kilpisjärvi (18 km, almost flat) on the same way like we came the first day, we leave the beauTful mountain aera. passing the three country border for the last Tme! across the lake kilpisjärvi all the way back to the coQages tundrea in kilpisjärvi. sauna and final dinner. 10th day: aPer breakfast transfer back to
