New Faces in New Places
Please extend a warm welcome to our new Young Adult Librarian, Kelly Rottmund!
Kelly joined us from the Peters Township Public Library where she served as the Young Adult
Librarian. Kelly received her bachelor’s degree in Creative Non-Fiction Writing and her masters in
Library Science both at the University of Pittsburgh. Kelly will be planning programs for Young Adults
and working at the Young Adult desk. Make sure you stop and say hello next time you're in!
Meghann Gardner, who was previously at the Young Adult Librarian’s desk has taken a new position
in the Adult Services Department. Meghann brings a youthful vision and enthusiasm to her new
department. See the Adult Services Page for Meghann’s Wii Sports for Seniors program.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
For many years the Library has served as a collection point for the Union Aid Society’s
Thanksgiving food drive. This year, instead distributing Thanksgiving food baskets,
the Union Aid Society will distribute food gift cards to families in need so that they can
shop for their own Thanksgiving meals and purchase items needed at this time of
year. “Turkey Trees” will be located at the Library, the YMCA, and Safran’s Market
from mid-October through November 7th. Please help a neighbor this Thanksgiving –
stop by one of these locations and take a “turkey” tag for a family in need.
The Union Aid Society is counting on the continued generosity of our community to
help us care for our neighbors this holiday season. Contact the Union Aid Society office
at 412.741.9240 for additional information.
