G307L LEVEL THERE IS GOD PROPER HUMANITY One (Y1-3) * God is Character Points Two (Y4-6) ** God’s Nature Human Relationships Three (Y7-8) *** God’s Law Man in God’s Creation God’s Creation GOD’S ORDERLINESS SEEN IN THE HEAVENS Notes: 1. Any practical applications and activities provided in the lesson are offered as suggestions to help you in your preparation. They are not meant to direct or limit the ways in which the focus of the lesson can be applied. 2. You are encouraged to pray and contact the Lord to receive His burden and guidance in teaching and applying the lesson. 3. Fellowship with other saints, and inquiring of the children themselves, may also bring out many helpful applications. 4. The questions are designed to guide you as you interact with the children. You do not need to use all of them. Creation shows us that God is orderly. When God created the heavens and the Earth, He put everything in its right place and in the proper order. God has placed everything in our Solar System in its right place. Each planet in our Solar System has its own orbit which prevents it from colliding with the other planets. The Earth orbits the Sun in exactly the right orbit and speed to make the Earth habitable for man. BURDEN TO IMPART SUGGESTED SONGS BIBLE VERSES LESSON IDEAS • • * Who made? When God created the heavens and the Earth, He put everything in its right place and in the proper order. Suggested Learning Experiences • • • ** Discuss the Solar System – what it means and what it contains. Beginning with the Sun, talk about the order of the planets. Make a Sun and planets that show relative sizes (A Solar System model - G307A). Get children to place the planets in the right order from the Sun. Why did God put the Earth there? What would it be like if we lived on Mercury? Jupitar? Neptune? Lead children to realise that when God made our Solar System He positioned the Earth in exactly the right place. If the Earth were any closer to the Sun, our planet would be too hot to live on, and if the Earth were any further from the Sun, our planet would be too cold for life to exist. Children role-play the planets and Sun. Sing a song about creation while they move around the room randomly. When you stop singing/playing the guitar they get into the proper order of the planets from the Sun as quickly as they can. The one to get into order last drops off and a new person takes their place (a bit like musical chairs). If you only have enough children for one lot of planets – just keep practising getting into the right order fast (compete against time). Worksheet – Make a creation week cut out and learn the memory verse (G307W). Focus: Creation shows us that God is orderly. God has placed everything in our Solar System in its right place. Each planet in our Solar System has its own orbit which prevents it from colliding with the other planets. Suggested Learning Experiences • • Show a small model of the Sun and the Earth (for example, a large ball and a marble). Get children to hold the Sun and demonstrate the Earth’s elliptical orbit around the Sun (google ‘Solar sytem and elliptical orbit for kids’ to learn about this before hand). Explain that every planet has an elliptical orbit. This is due to the gravitational pull of the sun and the velocity (speed) of the planets themselves. If any of the planets were to move slower that would cause the planet to fall into the Sun. Any faster and the planet would escape or be out of orbit. God has given the planets the right speed and orbit to hold them in place. Watch a video clip on the planets showing their orbit (see resources) • • *** Activities from level 1. Worksheet – Make a creation week cut out, complete a maze, learn the memory verse (G307W). Focus: Focus: Creation shows us that God is orderly. The earth orbits the sun in exactly the right orbit and speed to make the earth habitable for man. Suggested Learning Experiences • • • • RESOURCES Activity using the ball and marble in L2. Discuss speed and tilt of the Earth - the earth orbits the sun every 365 days at 108,000 km/h (30 km/s). This speed along with the tilt of Earth’s axis (angle at which the Earth is tilted is 23.4o) allows seasonal changes every 3 months. If the Earth were going half the speed it would double the time of each season. The 6-month extremes for winter and summer would be so different that life could not exist. Discuss in pairs what it would be like in New Zealand if the Earth was going at half the speed (consequences of long summers and long winters). Illustrate one of these ideas and share with the whole group. Worksheet – Make a creation week cut out, complete a maze and quiz, learn the memory verse (G307W).
