Teddy Roosevelt's “Square Deal” • Teddy Roosevelt’s “Square Deal” was to give common people fair treatment. • The square deal included the Food and Drug Inspection act, Hepburn Act of 1906, and conservation.
More on the Square Deal • The Square Deal was compromised of many different bills and acts. The Square Deal was developed by Theodore Roosevelt to help America get back on its feet after a serious economic crisis. The Square Deal was supported by most Americans.
Pure Food and Drug Act • The pure food and drug act was apart of the Square Deal. • The pure food and drug act was made to regulate all consumable products. Now, all factories were open to inspection to ensure the quality of a product. Also, it required companies to put labels on products.
More on the Pure Food and Drug Act • The Pure Food and Drug Act also called for the responsibility to have regular production inspections. Tests were often run on products, and if any sign of a contamination occurred, the product would be thrown out. The basics of the FDA today started with the Pure Food and Drug act.
• Coney Island was an amusement park that people went to, to enjoy their time off. • People got time off because business were required to give vacation time. • Businesses were also required to give contracts to workers so the workers would know what the terms were and to make sure they got vacation time.
Coney Island About Coney Island • Coney Island is a New York City neighborhood that features an amusement area that includes 35 or more separate rides and attractions; it's not a centrally managed amusement park like Disneyland or Six Flags. • Coney Island was originally developed as a way to give workers a way to relax, which was part of the square deal. Before this time. Workers didn’t have relaxation time.
