Phone: (856) 262262-3900 New Club Program What’s New Each summer campers look forward to seeing what is new. This year we have read our camper, parent and staff surveys and decided to improve our program and facility yet again. All summer long we watched campers throw tennis balls against many of the buildings with solid walls. Lo and behold they were playing wall ball and only managed to break one window last summer. We are now adding a Wall Ball to our All Purpose Surface next to the tennis courts. Wall Ball has turned into a great early morning and after lunch period activity. It will also be used as a new Superclub and Club activity. When it comes to the program we will be overhauling the Club System where campers are permitted to choose their activities. The new system allows campers to choose a new club every day without getting locked into a club for four consecutive weeks. Similar to the way we currently choose Superclubs in Senior Camp, campers lineup in the Assembly Area and, when called upon, choose their clubs. Campers rotate to determine who gets to choose their clubs first. Staff will escort campers to and from clubs each day. We will no longer need to spend time putting clubs into the computer, sorting them out and having campers change their club each day. The process allows campers to choose a different club each day. Instead of having four choices during a fourweek period, campers will now have Fishing continues to be more popular eight choices per week. each year. One season we had 80 campers try to sign up for the boating and fishing club! To try to accommodate this overwhelming demand we will be adding a new, “fishing only” dock. dock Uncle Mike Spano, our Facility Director, will also The 2007 Yearbook has been sent cover the new dock and the existing to the printer. We are simply asking that we have your email and your spouse’s e-mail, if applicable, in our computer system. We are radically changing the way we communicate with our camp families and we need your assistance. If we do not have your e-mail you need to send it in as soon as possible. If you get a phone call from Aunt Lisa asking for it please e-mail her with all of the possible places to which we can e-mail you. Otherwise you risk missing important information. Gone are the days of printing and mailing large packets of information to our parent body. We are attempting to e-mail everything to you to try and be a little friendlier to the environment. In addition to e-mailing important documents to you we will post many of the items on our web site. Some of you may have already received your Confirmation form and Invoice in November. We will continue to email your updated invoices until your balance has been paid in full. Horseback Riding and Shore Shuttle Registration Forms will also be e-mailed to you. In April we will e-mail the Parent Handbook and the Health Form. In June we will mail the most important information of all, the Camp Menu, Camp Calendar, Bunk Schedule, Horseback Riding Lesson Schedule, Swim Groups, and the name and phone number of your children’s counselors and drivers. When camp is in session we will be e-mailing a daily update. We will stop sending home thousands of pieces of paper in our vehicles in an effort to keep you informed. This is one of our efforts to try and satisfy the quest for information as determined from our Parents Surveys. If you miss a day or week of camp you will always know what is going on in camp. How many times have you caught yourself saying, “I didn’t know…”? If you have not sent us your e-mail address please do so ASAP. E-mail addresses can be called in to (856) 2623900 or by clicking on the link: [email protected]. Did You Know... Tall Pines is a peanut aware facility! Although it is impossible to facility eliminate peanut butter from existence at camp we are striving to ensure that we are as close too peanut-free as possible. We have replaced peanut butter with soy nut butter. We also request that no food containing peanuts be sent on any of our vehicles. Each day our Food Services Director, Paula Cattell, scans ingredient labels and posts any type of allergy warning for the staff and campers to see. This year our Cooking program will be following the same format. Open House Please alert your friends that our next Open House will be on Sat., Feb. 9th from 12— 12—3 PM . Please RSVP by calling our office at (856) 262- 3900 or e-mailing us at [email protected]. Please dress appropriately for the weather as part of the tour is outside. More Tall Pines Babies We are lucky to have so many new babies born to our staff members. Uncle Geoff & Amy Gollihur had triplets this fall. Babies Brianna, Carter and Emily will be starting their own bunk in 2010. The triplets are pictured (left) with big brother Drew. Uncle Tim Dempster’s new daughter, Marianna Grace (bottom right), who was born this fall, will join the Gollihurs. Aunt Amanda Spano & Uncle Amadeo Cosentino’s new son, Zion (top right) was born just after the New Year. The birth of “Baby Z” makes Uncle Mike Spano, our Facility Director, a grandfather. Thanks to all of the parents who sent in diapers for the Gollihur family. We collected over 5000 diapers for a staff member who has been with us since the day we opened twelve years ago. By Uncle Geoff’s calculations the triplets should go through all the diapers in about 3 days. Just kidding! He said they would last a little longer than that. Congratulations to all!
