Summer Reading Requirements
Grade 6
V+J
Dear Parents,
During the summer, the children who will enter second
through eighth grade in September are obligated to satisfy specific
reading requirements for their grade. The book list and format for
the reports are attached to this letter. All reports MUST be done
from the books on the list. This same list will be used throughout
the year for book reports, so be sure to save it. The list can also be
found on the school’s website at www.mountaviat.org
Each student entering sixth grade is required to read Hatchet
by Gary Paulsen, and take a test on this book during the first week
of school. A report is not to be done for Hatchet.
A written report of the book chosen by the student from the
summer reading section on the attached book list is to be turned in
on the first day of school. The students are to follow the attached
format for their written book report. The book report for sixth
grade should be neatly handwritten in ink or typed by the student.
If you have any questions, please call the school office. May
God bless you and keep you safe.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Frati
