Its purpose is to gather and collate information on the acute care and primary rehabilitation services offered to people with spinal cord injuries in the member countries • We are interested in identifying specific differences and in analysing how these impact the perceived quality of care in each country • The initial investigation has taken the form of a questionnaire that was sent to each of the member organisations • Then a workshop involved all the delegates in an activity focused upon the exchange of experience and ideas that will lead to a consideration of “best practice” in primary rehabilitation ESCIF-ppt / Version 1.0 / 2006 05 July 2007 Slide 16 www.escif.org Projects: www.escif.org congress supporter 2007 Index Back Prev ESCIF-ppt / Version 1.0 / 2006 05 July 2007 Slide 17 www.escif.org Projects Integration & participation of people with SCI • • • congress supporter 2007 Index Back Prev One of the primary aims of the rehabilitation of people with SCI is to enable them to “get back into society” and to help them to live active and fulfilling lives. But what do we really mean when we talk about people being “integrated into society” or say that people “participate in the community”? This is the focus of a new study – a collaboration between ESCIF and Swiss Paraplegic Research. The background to the study, its aims and objectives were explained by the study leaders, Dr Jan Reinhardt and Jane Horsewell, at the 2007 ESCIF congress in Lobbach. Further information about the study was sent to congress delegates in May 2007. The first phase of the study, the pre-test, has now been completed and the research team will continue with a full-scale investigation in Switzerland. The next stage will involve similar investigations in several other European countries.
