Course Description
"Economics is the science of purposeful human actions and their unintended or overlooked consequences. Economic
theory examines the choices people make and the way these decisions affect others. Since all actions have
consequences, it is important to trace the logical sequence of events arising from people's choices. Applying economic
theory to a wide variety of everyday situations enables us to view the world in an unexpected and exciting way."

Instructional Methods





Reading is the backbone of this course. Do it, do it all, and don’t get behind!
Writing is another foundational piece in this course. You will become better writers and I would encourage you
to take advantage of the opportunities to rewrite and revise your work.
Examinations and quizzes . You will be measure by the common assessments and quizzes given in this class.
Lectures will occur during most chapters and within every unit.
Learning activities and homework will vary greatly and provide you the opportunity to apply your skills and
problem solve by tackling current issues and scenarios. Things like speeches, presentations, debates, Socratic
seminars, films, primary source analysis, current events, etc. will be omnipresent throughout the course.
Reading notes will be the primary source of homework.

The following is a breakdown of school wide grading categories and weighting:

Students are expected submit assignments on a regular basis, adhere to deadlines, and have a valid excuse for missing
class. Missing assignments in the case of an excused absence must be submitted on the day you return to class. It
is your responsibility to contact or email your teacher for assignments when absent.
Retake Policy
Students have the opportunity to re-do or retake all Type 1 assignments. Essays can be re-done as many times
throughout the semester in order to improve their grade. Quizzes cannot be re-taken, but students will have the
opportunity to make “corrections” to quizzes in order to receive credit on any incorrect assignments.
