Mission weekend continues through Sunday. Deadline for First Press Lite articles: Nov. 22 Attendance last week: 151 Reformation Sunday Today is Reformation Sunday. It commemorates the sending of a letter on October 31, 1517 by Martin Luther to the Archbishop of Mainz in which he advanced "Ninety-five Theses" to protest the practice of selling indulgences. The sending of this letter is generally regarded as the "official" beginning of the Protestant Reformation some 499 years ago. Over against the distortions of the gospel that characterized the Roman Catholic Church at that point in history, the Reformers re-asserted several basic convictions about the gospel, namely that salvation is by God’s grace alone revealed through scripture alone received through faith alone accomplished by Christ alone all for the glory of God alone. The Reformers also realized that the work of reformation is never perfect or complete. Thus, the church is called to the on-going task of reforming its teaching and practice in the light of the word of God and bearing faithful witness in each generation. Martin Luther's "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God", a paraphrase of Psalm 46, is still the "theme song" of the Reformation movement. Prayer Requests [email protected] Please feel free to share any requests for prayer. These will be prayed for during the coming week by the Pastor and staff. Please place requests in the offering plate as it is passed. May God bless you! Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever. Amen. First Evangelical Presbyterian Church Frankfort, Indiana Sunday—October 30, 2016 “Righteous are you, O LORD, and your laws are right. The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands are my delight. Your statutes are forever right; give me understanding that I may live.” Psalm 119:137-138, 140, 142-144 352 West Clinton Street Frankfort, Indiana 46041 Phone: 765/654-5558 On the web at www.fepcfrankfort.org Gathering Welcome Praise and Devotion: The Lord is King, Enthroned in Might facebook.com/fepcfrankfort Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder Offering: “Now Thank We All Our God” WILO Radio at 10:45 1570AM or 96.9 FM Prayers of Intercession & the Lord’s Prayer Streaming at 10:45 at Clintoncountydailynews.com ”Christ of the Upward Way” E-mail us at [email protected] Engaging Scripture Reading: Exodus 20 Children’s Message: “The Ten Best Ways to Live” Office Hours Monday—Thursday 9:00 a.m.—Noon Next week Next week is Mission Weekend.
