IGHS IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME ASSESSMENT CALENDAR Year 1 (Junior Year) August 2015 August/September September October November November December IB Diploma Students and Parents meet with CAS Coordinator in preparation for their CAS Activities for SY 2015/2016 IB Diploma students receive their IB Assessment Calendar for 2015/2016 Teachers orient students on IB internal assessments in their subjects IB Diploma students are assessed exam fees for junior year (if applicable) Extended Essay kickoff. DP candidates receive all paperwork, timeline and an introduction to Extended Essay Extended Essay Meeting. Students discuss emergent ideas with representatives from each department and IB Coordinator. Extended Essay Student/Mentor Establishment form due to IB Coordinator Extended Essay Proposal due to IB Coordinator. Extended Essay - Students begin to create the annotated bibliography and preliminary outline with faculty mentor. Begin to develop a body of research and focus on topic. Extended Essay – Faculty Member/Student EE Progress Report due. Mentor and parent signature required. December/January February Film Studies – Internal Exam – Production Portfolio Extended Essay MANDATORY WORKSHOP (Discussion of topics, share ideas, get guidance on writing) February Language B – Internal Assessment – Practice Orals ALL CAS FORMS, HOURS, FINAL ESSAYS AND REFLECTIVE JOURNALS ARE DUE Language A: Literature-Written Assignment – Reflective Statement and Literary Essay studied in Part I Students should be actively working on introduction and final outline. February February March BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH In all IB courses, students must complete internal assessments in time for the teacher to grade according to IB criteria and turn in to IB Coordinator BEFORE MARCH 1. April Extended Essay – Faculty Member/Student EE Progress Report due. Mentor and Parent Signature Required Late April Extended Essay – Student submit introduction and final outline to mentor and IB Coordinator May Extended Essay – Students should be working on first draft May Language A: Literature – Internal Assessment - Individual oral presentation. Students who do not submit first draft will be in jeopardy of being removed from the Programme Extended Essay – MANDATORY – Second Draft Due: Students must submit a copy of their second draft to their faculty mentor and the IB Coordinator. Student sets up date to discuss second draft with IB Coordinator. Mathematics SL – Introduction to Mathematical Exploration Assessment Exam fees are due to IB Coordinator Extended Essay-Complete Final Draft: Students submit three paper copies of their completed Extended Essay to the IB Coordinator. Extended Essay Final Draft Due Viva voce: A short interview with the student and the IB Coordinator. The Viva voce helps: Monitor plagiarism and malpractice in general. Reflection on successes and difficulties in the research process. Reflection on what has been learned. There are seven internal assessment criteria for fieldwork.
