AP style state abbreviations

AP Style State Abbreviations
State abbreviations in Associated Press (AP) style are universally and
typically used by writers and editors for newspapers, magazines and
press releases. Do not use US Postal abbreviations, unless you intend
to send them a package instead of the news.
Certain states are not abbreviated at all, and several cities do not
require a state name following them. Use the below AP Style tables to find abbreviation rules applicable
for your city and state.
