Course structure
The course is divided into eight 15 credit modules, followed with a 60 credit dissertation.
The full MSc is achieved when you have successfully completed 180 credits.
There are both full and part time options of study. The full time option takes 1.5 years to
complete the MSc and the part time option takes 2.5 years. Of the eight modules, seven are
core and one is optional, followed by the dissertation.
For the full time route, each semester (or half year) you will study four modules. For the part
time route, each semester you will study two modules. You can tailor the course to suit your
area of interest through choosing particular areas to focus on in assessment, and also
through your choice of optional module.
Each semester will begin with one intensive weekend, during which you will attend lectures
on your modules, listen to guest speakers, have group tutorials to develop your Masters
level study skills, and also have one-to-one discussions with your personal tutor.
Following this, you will complete learning tasks on-line, with a new task being posted every
two weeks. Modules will be split into topics and you will be given a timetable which shows
when the learning for each of the topics will be posted on line.
There is no set time for you to work on your modules, you will be able to work when it fits
with your other commitments, but interim deadlines will be set so that you have chance to
receive feedback on your work as it develops.
